Job Description :
Position Summary
This is an on-site position in Dallas, TX.
The Vice President of IT Applications & Project Management Office (PMO) is a senior Information Technology executive responsible for the strategic direction, governance, implementation, optimization, and support of Methodist Health System's enterprise application portfolio and project management office.
This leader partners closely with the Chief Information Officer, Vice President of IT Operations & Information Security, CMIO, Health Informatics, operational executives, and physician leadership to align technology investments with the health system's strategic, clinical, financial, and operational objectives. The Vice President ensures enterprise applications deliver measurable business and clinical value while maintaining high availability, security, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
The role reports to the SVP & CIO and provides executive oversight for enterprise applications supporting seven hospitals, more than 75 ambulatory clinics, physician practices, and future health system expansions. This position serves as the primary liaison between Information Technology, hospital leadership, physician organizations, and corporate administration to ensure successful planning, implementation, optimization, and lifecycle management of enterprise technology solutions.
Essential Responsibilities
Executive Leadership & Strategy
• Develop and execute a multi-year enterprise applications strategy and roadmap aligned with Methodist Health System's strategic priorities.
• Lead application modernization, optimization, rationalization, and digital transformation initiatives across the organization.
• Identify emerging technologies and evaluate opportunities that improve clinical care, operational efficiency, patient experience, and financial performance.
• Establish application standards, governance, and technology direction across the enterprise.
Enterprise Applications
Provide executive leadership for the planning, implementation, optimization, maintenance, and lifecycle management of enterprise applications, including:
• Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR)
o Revenue Cycle
o Ambulatory Clinical Applications
o Business Intelligence and Analytics
• Workday (ERP), OnBase, Financial and Payroll Applications (API, Strata, etc).
• Third-party clinical and business applications
• Enterprise integrations and interoperability platforms
Ensure all applications remain secure, scalable, highly available, and aligned with organizational priorities.
Epic Strategy & Governance
Provide executive oversight for the organization's Epic ecosystem, including:
• Epic upgrade and release readiness
• Application governance and prioritization
• Security and access management

Oversee the integration and ongoing support of numerous third-party applications that extend and complement the Epic platform.
Project Management Office (PMO)
Provide executive oversight of the IT Project Management Office by:
• Establishing enterprise project governance, standards, and methodologies.
• Ensuring projects are prioritized according to strategic objectives and organizational value.
• Overseeing portfolio planning, resource allocation, financial management, and project execution.
• Driving accountability for project delivery, scope, schedule, budget, quality, and benefits realization.
• Promoting standardized project management practices across Information Technology.
Business Partnership
• Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, physicians, operational leaders, and clinical stakeholders.
• Foster collaborative relationships between Information Technology and business operations.
• Partner with physician leadership to improve technology adoption and clinician experience.
• Ensure technology investments support organizational growth and strategic initiatives.
Security, Compliance & Operational Resilience
Partner with IT Operations and Information Security leadership to:
• Ensure enterprise applications meet security and regulatory requirements.
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission, and other applicable regulatory standards.
• Promote system reliability, availability, and operational resilience.
People Leadership
• Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-performing leaders and teams.
• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Lead organizational change management initiatives associated with enterprise technology transformation.
• Promote professional development and succession planning across the Applications and PMO organization.
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive Information Technology experience within a large healthcare organization.
• Minimum of 8 years leading enterprise healthcare applications, including significant Epic leadership experience.
• Minimum of 5 years in a Director-level or higher leadership position overseeing enterprise applications and/or a Project Management Office.
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale enterprise implementations and digital transformation initiatives.
• Strong financial, operational, and strategic planning experience.
• Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
• Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA), Information Systems, or related discipline.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• CHIME Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO).
• Epic certification(s) or executive leadership experience supporting multiple Epic applications.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Extensive knowledge of enterprise healthcare applications, including Epic, ERP platforms, and integrated third-party clinical and business systems (e.g., Philips, GE HealthCare, Solventum/3M, etc.).
• Comprehensive understanding of Epic governance, upgrade strategy, release readiness, and optimization.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare interoperability, interfaces, APIs, and enterprise integrations.
• Expertise in enterprise portfolio management, project governance, and PMO methodologies.
• Proven ability to lead large, complex, multi-disciplinary teams through organizational transformation.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to align technology strategy to organizational goals.
• Excellent executive communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead change, influence senior executives, and build consensus across clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders.
