Position Description

The CMA aides the medical providers with patient care through a variety of tasks. The CMA will prepare patients to be seen by the medical provider by bringing the patient to an exam room, taking vitals, and collecting the patientโ€™s health history. The CMA helps with the administrative aspects of patient care as well through maintaining patient documents in the Electronic Health Records and other duties as assigned. This person always maintains professionalism when providing care and delivers care in a culturally competent manner and in the patientโ€™s native language. This person collaborates with other medical personnel, including members of the other practices, to complete his or her work.

This position requires compliance with the Centerโ€™s Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct and applicable policies and procedures. Such compliance will be considered as part of a regular performance appraisal. Failure to comply with the Centerโ€™s standards, including the failure to report any conduct or event that potentially violates legal or compliance requirements, will be met by the enforcement of disciplinary action, up to and including possible termination.

Essential Functions:

  1. Prepares patients for the appointment by bringing them to an exam room, recording the patientโ€™s medical history, taking vitals,etc. Ensures all paperwork before, during, and after the patientโ€™s visit is correctly handled and filed to enable proper billing.
  1. Assistswith patient care as directed by the medical provider. Accurately translates tofacilitatemedical provider/patient communication whenappropriate.
  1. Administers injections, such as vaccines, as directed by a medical provider andin accordance withLuneraHealthprotocols.
  1. Maintainsan accurateknowledge of all procedures offered and the components of the Medical Assistantโ€™s role in each.Participatesin all stafftrainingsregardingnew procedures and services.
  1. Prepares exam rooms for patient treatment as perLuneraHealthprotocols. Maintains/cleans all exam rooms in compliance withLuneraHealthprotocols and proceduresrelativeto infection control, exposurecontroland safety issues.
  1. Maintains adequate medical supplies and compiles a list of individual item shortages for inventory control and ordering purposes as assigned.
  1. Maintains patient records in the electronic medical records system, monitors patient flow, andassiststhe medical providers in assuring that all patient records and documents are properly and accurately completed andentered intothe electronic medical records system.
  1. Receives and places necessary telephone calls consistent with professional matters,clinicbusinessand patient care. Followsup on these callspromptly and directs calls to theappropriate personnelwhen necessary.
  1. Participates inappropriate healthpromotion/disease prevention activities and outreach efforts, both on-site and off-site asrequired.
  1. As directed by a supervisor,performsother related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and programmatic goals andobjectives.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
