TPC Monterey at Pasadera is a full-service lifestyle club in Monterey where members enjoy a Jack Nicklaus Signature course, dining, fitness, aquatics and racket sports, and exceptional family experiences.  We are seeking a highly motivated Club Controller to join our team in Monterey, California.  
 
Overview:
This key position reports to the Corporate Controller and work closely with the General Manager and the Corporate Operations Controller.  The Club Controller will be responsible for managing and directing the daily financial operations of the Club. 

Required Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting or Business, OR 5+ years progressive accounting experience in the Hospitality Industry.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum 5 years hospitality industry experience; Country Club experience a plus.
  • Strong management and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage competing priorities, with flexibility to work on a variety of activities across the various departments.
  • Ability to take ownership, work independently, and produce accurate and timely results.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions to achieve Club’s goals and objectives.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Managing and overseeing daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Protect club operations by keeping sensitive financial and member information confidential.
  • Perform basic office tasks, including answering phones, responding to emails, processing mail, filing, etc.
  • Accurately prepare and maintain accounting documents and records.
  • Reconcile cash tenders and post daily charges to member accounts.
  • Post member AR payments including monthly ACH & credit card autopayments.
  • Prepare bank deposits and process them through the bank.
  • Research, track and resolve accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.
  • Provide prompt and courteous assistance to members in answering inquiries and correcting member statements when charging errors are made.
  • Distribute collections notices for past due members.
  • Follow corporate policy in suspending delinquent members and work with the General Manager to collect payment.
  • Provide prompt and courteous assistance and support to company personnel in accounting inquiries.
  • Process weekly check runs and ensure vendors are paid accurately and on time.
  • Balance Vendor statements each month to ensure no invoices are missing.
  • Maintain records of invoices and payments.
  • Verify departmental coding of invoices and ensure managers are following proper accounting procedures.
  • Prepare 1099s each year.
  • Work with membership director to accurately process new members, downgrades, upgrades, and resignations.
  • Process electronic onboarding of new hires, pay rate changes and employee terminations.
  • Process and reconcile bi-weekly payroll.
  • Prepare monthly bank statement reconciliations and other various month end duties.
  • Develop, implement and administer policies to control and coordinate accounting, auditing, budgets, taxes and related activities.
  • Prepare financial statements, forecasts, and analyses for all administrative and managerial functions.
  • Evaluate operating results for costs, revenues and budgets; identify areas of concern and suggest corrective actions
  • Perform special projects as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Typical Physical/Mental Demands:
  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand and lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.

Salary Range: $100,000 + depending on qualifications.
