What is CloudFront?

Amazon CloudFront is a content delivery network (CDN) service offered by AWS that securely delivers data, videos, applications, and APIs to customers globally with low latency and high transfer speeds. It uses a network of edge locations worldwide to cache copies of your content closer to users for faster access. CloudFront integrates with other AWS services, including Amazon S3 and EC2, making it ideal for distributing both static and dynamic content. It also provides security features like DDoS protection and SSL/TLS encryption.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals working with Amazon CloudFront and how can they be addressed?

Professionals working with Amazon CloudFront often encounter challenges such as configuring optimal caching strategies, managing secure content delivery, and troubleshooting latency or distribution issues. These challenges can be addressed by staying updated with best practices, leveraging AWS tools for monitoring and logging, and collaborating closely with development and security teams. Regularly reviewing CloudFront documentation and participating in AWS forums can also help in resolving complex technical issues and optimizing performance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AWS CloudFront engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an AWS CloudFront Engineer, you need expertise in content delivery networks (CDNs), networking fundamentals, and a solid understanding of AWS services, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with AWS CloudFront, AWS CLI, Infrastructure as Code tools (such as CloudFormation or Terraform), and relevant AWS certifications (like AWS Certified Solutions Architect) is highly beneficial. Strong problem-solving skills, communication, and the ability to collaborate across teams make someone stand out in this position. These skills ensure the efficient delivery of content, robust security, and optimal performance for users accessing distributed applications.

Job description

The way the world consumes media is changing rapidly - richer experiences for live streamed sports, snappy short reels, interactive gaming, and responsive communications with humans or AI are table stakes. Do you want to define the next generation of media delivery capabilities that powers engaging media experiences for global audiences? Are you equal parts a forward thinker and a problem solver?
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our CloudFront team based in Seattle, WA. We are the product team behind the Amazon CloudFront and AWS Global Accelerator services that provide massive scale, security and performance to the world's largest media content providers, gaming studios, and social applications.
We're looking for a Senior Product Manager that's passionate about solving customer problems and has demonstrated success in turning ambiguous customer needs into successful products. In this role, you will help develop media delivery for customer - implementing state of the art internet protocols, helping develop specialized infrastructure, and defining state of the art security products that work across human and AI traffic. If you are excited by building deeply technical products that bring the most loved media experiences to life, enjoy working in a collaborative, analytical, and fast-paced environment, and are comfortable interacting with highly technical cross-functional teams, we want to talk to you!
As the Senior Product Manager for Media delivery, you will own all aspects of your portfolio including strategy, feature roadmap, user experience, pricing, and growth for different customer segments. You will work across engineering, business development, and marketing leads to set strategy, define the product, and make difficult, high-judgment trade-offs between features and time-to-market. You will partner with the technical leaders of the organization to ensure the programming model, scalability and reliability promises, and developer experience delight our customers. As one of the team leaders, you will play a key role in hiring additional team members, and help set the vision, values, and culture of this business. This is a highly visible position that will interact at all levels of the AWS business.
Key job responsibilities
- Understand technology and user trends in Media to identify forward looking strategies to drive business growth
- Engage directly with customers to understand their needs and learn what we can build to enable and delight our customers
- Evaluate industry innovations and technology platforms and identify partnership and collaboration opportunities
- Work collaboratively across organizations as an advocate for the customer needs
- Author documents relating to product life cycle including product roadmap, business requirements, and functional specifications
- Prototype new features and experiences
- Drive product development across teams (primarily Engineering, Operations, Product Management, Business Development, and Marketing) through business requirements, design, implementation, and deployment
- Define pricing, positioning, and go-to-market strategies to drive product growth.
A day in the life
AWS is a leader in Media delivery. The role requires you to deliver across product innovation, business growth, and strategic communications to a broad set of stakeholders. You drive product discovery to deliver media experiences high quality at a massive scale and right security. You will work with global GTM and Sales teams to lead business growth. You will communicate strategically at all levels of leadership - internally within AWS and broader Amazon, as well as externally with the customers.
