IT Cloud Engineer
Lenexa, KS

Join us in shaping a healthier future for kids. At Children’s Hospital Association, we unite more than 200 member hospitals to put children first—advancing care, informing policy, and driving progress together.
Where You’ll Work
This position is based in our Lenexa, KS office. We leverage a hybrid working model working three days in the office, two days optional remote work.
What You’ll Do
The IT Cloud Engineer plays a key role in designing and implementing cloud‑based infrastructure for CHA’s centrally managed applications. This includes deploying, automating, monitoring, and maintaining resilient SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS solutions in Azure. The cloud engineer collaborates closely with agile teams to support continuous delivery and guide solutions through the SDLC into production. This role requires hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, Terraform for infrastructure‑as‑code, and strong security and networking expertise.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize automated build-test-deploy workflows using Azure Pipelines, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins to enable rapid, safe software delivery.
  • Develop and maintain scalable, version-controlled cloud infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, and ARM templates to ensure environment parity across dev, test, and production.
  • Design highly scalable, resilient, and secure data platform solutions in Azure, including compute, networking, and managed storage services.
  • Support containerization using Docker and manage deployments across Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or Azure Container Apps, focusing on scaling, ingress, and security.
  • Automate security scans, manage secrets via Azure Key Vault, and enforce secure coding practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Define and instrument logging, monitoring, and alerting strategies to proactively detect and prevent system failures.
  • Own and lead triage for critical platform/infrastructure issues, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and maintain detailed incident post-mortems to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide technical leadership, conduct regular code reviews, and share knowledge to foster a high-performance DevOps culture within the organization.
  • Implement and automate compliance controls using Azure Policy, Azure Blueprints, and policy-as-code frameworks to maintain regulatory standards.
  • Partner with developers, security teams, and business stakeholders through Agile/Scrum ceremonies to align technical solutions with project KPIs.
  • Validate high-availability and business continuity plans, including multi-region deployments and graceful degradation strategies.
  • Communicate contact or system changes to program leads, internal stakeholders, management, and staff as appropriate.
  • Ensure operational stability through routine checks, updates, and process improvements.
  • Perform maintenance amp; support after business hours and on weekends as needed.

What You’ll Bring to CHA
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying.
  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or health care related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a major cloud platform like Azure.
  • 2+ years of experience coding within Terraform.
  • 2+ years of experience in Infrastructure.

Our Perks and Benefits:
  • Competitive total compensation package
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Retirement Savings program with generous company contribution
  • Hybrid working model
  • Health Savings Account with company contribution
  • Wellness program
  • Paid time off and personal days
