What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Closet Sales Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Closet Sales Specialist, you need strong knowledge of closet design, space planning, and sales techniques, often supported by experience in retail or interior design. Familiarity with CAD design software, point-of-sale systems, and customer relationship management (CRM) tools is typically required. Excellent communication, active listening, and problem-solving skills help you understand clients' needs and build lasting relationships. These capabilities ensure you can deliver personalized solutions that drive sales and customer satisfaction in a competitive market.

What are Closet Sales?

Closet sales refer to the process of selling gently used or new clothing and accessories directly from an individual's wardrobe, often through online platforms, social media, or in-person events. People host closet sales to declutter their closets, make extra money, or promote sustainable fashion by giving pre-owned items a new life. Closet sales can be managed by individuals, influencers, or small businesses, and buyers benefit from finding unique or discounted fashion pieces. These sales are popular on apps like Poshmark, Depop, and Instagram. Participating in closet sales is a great way to update your wardrobe sustainably and affordably.

What are some common challenges faced by Closet Sales professionals when working with clients, and how can they be addressed?

Closet Sales professionals often encounter challenges such as understanding diverse client needs, managing expectations regarding space and budget, and keeping up with the latest closet design trends. Building strong communication skills and staying informed about product options help address these issues. Collaborating closely with design teams and installers ensures that projects run smoothly and client satisfaction remains high.

Job description

Closet Sales Designer

Company Overview

Beyond The Box is a design-focused, customer-driven company specializing in custom closet and storage solutions. We combine thoughtful design, quality products, and a consultative approach to help homeowners make the most of their spaces.

Our team works closely with homeowners, contractors, installers, and fellow designers to deliver projects that are both beautiful and functional. We provide the support, systems, and training you need to excel while giving you the autonomy to own your client relationships and outcomes.

The Opportunity

As a Closet Sales Designer, you will own the full sales and design process, turning qualified leads into completed projects. This is a full-time, commission-based outside sales role where your creativity, consultative selling skills, and follow-through directly impact your earnings.

You will conduct in-home and showroom consultations, design custom closet solutions, manage budgets and expectations, and see projects through installation and warranty. If you enjoy blending design with sales and want clear control over your income and client relationships, this role offers a strong career path.

What You'll Do
  • Conduct in-home and showroom consultations, including taking accurate measurements and presenting design concepts to clients.
  • Design custom closet and storage solutions that align with client needs, style preferences, and budget.
  • Prepare estimates, present pricing confidently, and secure design agreements and contracts.
  • Manage client relationships from first consultation through installation and warranty, ensuring a smooth, positive experience.
  • Maintain accurate records, sales activities, and forecasts using HubSpot and other tools.
What Success Looks Like
  • Consistently convert qualified leads into signed contracts by delivering thoughtful, budget-conscious designs.
  • Build a growing base of repeat and referral clients who trust you with multiple projects.
  • Collaborate effectively with vendors, installers, and internal teams so projects are delivered on time and as promised.
  • Meet or exceed individual sales goals and commission targets within your first 6โ€“12 months.
What We're Looking For
  • 1โ€“5 years of experience in sales, design, or a related industry, with a track record of building client relationships.
  • Strong design sense, attention to detail, and spatial awareness, with the ability to balance creativity and budget.
  • Comfort using design software, Microsoft Office, and CRM tools, along with strong communication and organization skills.
  • A current driver's license, reliable insured transportation, and the self-motivation to thrive in an outside sales role.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Earnings range of $40,000โ€“$80,000 depending on performance, with no cap on commissions.
  • Full-time role with autonomy and ownership of your client relationships.
  • Ongoing training, product education, and professional development within a supportive team.
  • Opportunity to grow your career in a design-focused, customer-driven company.
How to Apply

If this opportunity aligns with your sales and design ambitions, please submit your resume and a brief note about your relevant experience and interest in the Closet Sales Designer role.
