Protection & Control Applications Engineer 1 4PC- 305
Location- Forest Park- GA
Client - Southern Company
Contract- 5 months

- Entry-level Protection & Control Applications Engineer role requiring 0-5 years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Learns technical concepts and company practices under close supervision.
- Focuses on individual engineering projects.
- Applies basic engineering principles, specifications, policies, and procedures.
- Implements standard philosophies and settings for distribution substation capital projects.
- Applies requested settings changes from Distribution Reliability work groups.
- Reviews distribution substation prints and protection schemes for dependability, reliability, and security.
- Analyzes protection zones and P&C equipment applications.
- Performs power system modeling and fault studies for requests, customer support, and capital projects.
- Manages relay asset information using CAPE and STOMP repositories.
- Ensures deliverables comply with NERC, SERC, and other applicable industry standards.
- Utilizes introductory engineering knowledge and basic problem-solving skills.
- Makes limited independent decisions based on procedures, with supervisory review.
- Demonstrates basic proficiency with business unit software (CAPE, STOMP, Vault).
- Exhibits strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to build effective relationships with field staff, design engineering staff, and/or vendors.
