Job Description

The role of a Technical Operations Trainer for QTS Data Centers involves developing and delivering comprehensive training programs related to the operations, maintenance and administrative processes of all regional data center facilities, equipment and other support related functions. This position ensures that all Facilities Operations team members are well-trained and competent in performing their tasks to guarantee smooth and efficient data center operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned

Develop and deliver effective training materials related to the operation, maintenance, and safety procedures of data center facilities and other aspects of the data center business. These materials will cover various aspects, including electrical and mechanical systems, telecommunications/connectivity, fire protection, environmental controls, security, safety, and emergency response.

Utilize classroom-based and hands-on training modalities to familiarize technicians with equipment, programs and procedures they will be working with in the performance of their roles.

Utilize digital resources (e.g., LMS, Microsoft Teams) to facilitate and deliver effective technology-based training.

Work with Facilities Operations leadership teams within the region to create, coordinate and deliver a training plan that meets the needs of the respective teams.

Conduct ongoing evaluation and improvement that includes independent and collaborative reviews of training products and programs to assess effectiveness, as well as solicit feedback from learners to enhance future sessions.

Foster a friendly and supportive environment that encourages engagement from learners and invites them to be an active participant in the learning process.

Maintain a high level of knowledge in data centers facilities and operations, and QTS processes.

Must have an excellent ability to convey complex technical information in an easy-to-understand manner.

Track and schedule staff certification renewal requirements and prepare reports on certification status.

Regularly review and update training programs to reflect changes in technology, processes, and compliance requirements.

Prepare reports on training activities, staff performance, and any identified issues or areas for improvement.

Travel up to 35%

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 5 years experience in operations and maintenance in a critical environment (data center, nuclear, power generation, etc.). Data center experience preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of documented instructional experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

3 years experience in creating/delivering technical instruction experience.

A bachelor's degree in engineering, information technology, or a related field.

Certifications in training, facility management, or related areas.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization

Basic project management knowledge

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Basic data entry skills
