Job description

Description:

Expected Starting Salary Range: - Commensurate with experience.

The Rothenberg Laboratory, focused on elucidating the mechanisms of allergic responses, is seeking a Research Associate. This position requires in-depth medical and scientific knowledge to engage in all aspects of clinical research from study design to publication. The goal of the research is to identify novel pharmaceutical targets for the treatment of patients with eosinophilic diseases including eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders, hypereosinophilic syndromes, asthma, and food allergies. The laboratory has identified and biologically characterized several critical pathways that regulate allergic responses. These discoveries include eosinophil effector mechanisms and the chemokine eotaxin/CCR-3 pathway.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design observational and interventional clinical trials; author and edit study protocols and informed consent forms
  • Create manual of operations
  • Provide input to developers for electronic data capture system design
  • Write FDA Investigational New Drug applications and respond to FDA requests
  • Maintain and update clinicaltrials.gov, collaborate with biostatisticians to create statistical analysis plans; clean study data and create plans for data cleaning; analyze study data
  • Create data presentations; write and edit manuscripts and grant applications
  • Prepare reports for safety boards, FDA, and funding agencies
  • Mentor medical students; liaise with clinician-investigators, laboratory investigators, business managers, and statisticians in the research center; and oversee the tactical operations of the CCED research program, execute, and record laboratory experiments, and analyze the data
  • Maintain currency in field through continuing education, literature, and seminars.
  • Attend required Cincinnati Children’s training sessions and ensure regulatory compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Required:
Candidate must have MD or PhD. Position requires knowledge of the management of clinical trials including ICH Good Clinical Practice standards and strong understanding of FDA and other regulatory requirements for clinical trials. Deep scientific and medical knowledge and excellent communication skills, especially written communication, are required.

Preferred:
High-impact publications and collaborative research are prioritized.
