Job description

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a Quality Analyst that will be responsible for organizing and coordinating data management and compliance with Core Measures and other documentation issues as assigned at TRMC. Analyze data and develops information that results in improvement compliance in area of responsibility. Acts as resource person to department directors, hospital staff and medical staff. Assist in all performance improvement activities conducted throughout the institution. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the concurrent reviews of medical records to assist with compliance with Core Measures and other medical record documentation as needed.  Coordinates and promotes the mission, vision and policies of TRMC.
  • Initiates and manages Core Measure compliance improvement projects in the hospital by working with Directors, staff and medical Staff as needed.   Directs activities toward achievement of and compliance with regulatory standards.  Review closed charts when needed.
  • Serves as a resource person and collaborates with hospital personnel in implementing improvement activities.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with administration, hospital staff, and medical staff to ensure effective communication, coordination and that performance improvement activity meets regulatory and TRMC requirements.
  • Maintains the database for assigned projects. Aggregates and interprets data utilizing various computer hardware/software programs. Prepares a variety of reports. Presents results to units and departments.
  • Identifies opportunities and facilitates departments or teams to quantify and streamline organizational and clinical processes which can improve effectiveness, efficiency and patient satisfaction. Makes recommendations to the Director of Quality Management regarding action plans, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals and mission of TRMC.
  • Identifies and assesses educational needs of hospital personnel and develops and presents training material on data management and performance improvement to meet their specific needs.
  • Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact Core Measure compliance and medical records documentation. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal/ laws.  Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.
  • Assist in the development of clinical practice guidelines and disease management activities. Assist with data management and makes recommendations regarding action plans.
  • Prepares reports and enters data accurately and on time.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
  • Consistently demonstrates a professional, self-directed, mature, disciplined and tactful approach to responsibilities assigned.
  • Serves on various committees as needed.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill to operate a computer to input and extract information using spreadsheet and data base software.
  • Must be able to employ effective problem solving and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in data management and process improvement by attending seminars and workshops if offered.

Qualifications:

  • Current RN licensure in State of Texas
  • Additional course work in performance improvement and CQI preferred.
  • 3 or more years of previous experience in acute care nursing.
  • Previous experience in medical record audit activities preferred.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Additional languages preferred. 
  • Strong written and verbal skills. 
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Word processing and database management preferred.
