Job description

This position is based onsite in San Diego, CA.

Mainstay Medical

Mainstay Medical is a medical device company focused on marketing an innovative implantable neurostimulation system, ReActiv8®, for people with disabling chronic mechanical Low Back Pain. The company is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, with subsidiaries operating in the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

Position Summary

The Clinical Marketing Manager serves as the critical bridge between Mainstay Medical’s research and clinical evidence teams and the broader commercial marketing organization. This role is responsible for synthesizing the growing body of clinical evidence supporting ReActiv8 Restorative Neurostimulation and translating it into compelling, credible, and audience-appropriate messaging that resonates with physicians, patients, payers, and the broader clinical community.

The Clinical Marketing Manager will own the strategy and execution for clinical conference engagement and tradeshow presence – focusing on podium activity, supporting CME programming, and ensuring ReActiv8 is represented with scientific rigor and commercial impact at key professional society meetings. This person is equally comfortable navigating peer-reviewed literature and building practical marketing tools, and brings a disciplined, audience-first approach to clinical communication.

Position Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the research/evidence team and the commercial marketing organization, ensuring clinical data is accurately translated into compelling marketing messaging and subsequent collateral.
  • Develop and maintain a core clinical messaging platform for ReActiv8, including key data claims, supporting evidence summaries, and hierarchy of proof - that can be adapted across audiences and channels.
  • Translate clinical study results, white papers, abstracts, and publications into audience-appropriate materials including physician-facing sales enablement tools, patient education content, payer value dossiers, and digital assets.
  • Partner with the medical affairs and clinical teams to ensure all messaging is scientifically accurate, compliant with applicable regulations and internal review standards, and appropriately substantiated by evidence.
  • Monitor the competitive clinical landscape and published literature, identifying new evidence that strengthens or challenges the ReActiv8 story and proactively updating messaging accordingly.
  • Develop clinical data summaries, visual abstracts, and evidence-based content for use by the field sales team to support clinical conversations with physicians and hospital systems.
  • Drive the strategy and execution of Continuing Medical Education (CME) programming as a channel for advancing clinical awareness around multifidus dysfunction and the adoption of ReActiv8 therapy.
  • Identify appropriate CME partners, formats, and venues - including symposia, workshops, webinars, and online modules - and manage the development process from concept through accreditation and delivery.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of CME initiatives through outcomes data and feedback, continuously refining programming to maximize educational impact.
  • Work closely with the research team to drive podium presence strategy by identifying abstract submission opportunities, supporting the preparation of presentation materials, and coordinating with faculty, KOL’s, and clinical investigators to maximize ReActiv8’s visibility at target meetings.
  • Work closely with the downstream marketing team to ensure clinical messaging is consistently and accurately integrated across all commercial channels - including sales tools, digital marketing, patient education materials, and social media.
  • Partner with the field sales organization to understand clinical objections and evidence gaps encountered in the field, using those insights to inform messaging development and content priorities.
  • Support the development of reimbursement and market access materials by providing clinical evidence summaries, health economics data narratives, and value-based messaging as needed.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a life sciences, marketing, communications, or clinical field required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, MPH, or clinical credential) a strong plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% a year.
  • 5+ years of experience in clinical marketing, medical affairs, medical education, or a related function within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or biotech industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and translate clinical data and peer-reviewed literature into clear, accurate, and compelling marketing content.
  • Experience owning or significantly contributing to clinical conference strategy and execution, including abstract submissions, podium programming, and exhibit management.
  • Familiarity with CME development and accreditation processes (ACCME guidelines) strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory and compliance environment governing clinical claims and medical education in the medical device industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to credibly engage both clinical and commercial audiences.
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple high-priority workstreams simultaneously with attention to detail and consistent follow-through.
  • Experience in neuromodulation, spine, pain management, or a related specialty preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with HubSpot, Salesforce, or other marketing/CRM platforms a plus.

The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $165,000/year; however, base pay offered will take into account a range of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package includes a range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.
