We are seeking an exceptional pathologist to take on the role of Vice Chair of Laboratory Medicine and serve as a proactive Medical Director for our Core Laboratory. The ideal candidate will possess:

• Board certification in pathology.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive clinical and leadership experience.

Our organization operates a comprehensive service line for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, which includes:

• A network of 21 hospitals with a centralized core laboratory and microbiology core.
• Service to the greater New York metropolitan area and the Health and Hospitals Corporation.

Our laboratory services, which span over 60 hospital and outpatient locations, deliver exceptional diagnostic care. Our team of pathologists and PhD scientists investigates the causes and diagnoses of diseases, performing over 25 million tests annually across various specialties, including:

• Microbiology
• Endocrinology
• Cytogenetics
• Molecular genetics
• Cytology
• Hematology
• Immunology
• Special coagulation
• Transfusion medicine

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is dedicated to specializing in both anatomic pathology and laboratory medicine. Our laboratory medicine team consists of 20 MD and PhD professionals across various fields, including:

• Microbiology
• Hematology
• Coagulation
• Clinical chemistry
• Flow cytometry
• Cytogenetics
• Point of care
• Informatics
• Molecular genetic pathology

Additionally, our community hospitals support rapid response laboratories as part of our integrated laboratory services. We also host Pathology Residency Training Programs for 32 residents (primarily in the AP/CP track) and seven subspecialty fellowships, with academic affiliations at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra University.

• Enhance the patient care experience through the integration of laboratory services.
• Mentor and support faculty in their professional development.
• Lead a team of laboratory professionals, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
• Assist the Chair in departmental management, strategic initiatives, and policy formulation.
• Oversee Core Lab operations to ensure high-quality diagnostic services and compliance with regulations.
• Implement innovative technologies and methodologies for efficient laboratory processes.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to optimize laboratory resource use and improve patient care.
• Promote academic and research initiatives within the division and support scholarly activities among faculty and staff.

• MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degrees, with board certification in Clinical Pathology or both Clinical and Anatomic Pathology. Experience in Clinical Chemistry and/or Molecular Pathology is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in laboratory leadership and management is essential.
• Strong academic credentials and a proven leadership record in a hospital/academic environment or a comparable commercial laboratory.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration and patient interaction.
• A commitment to advancing laboratory science through innovation and research.
