Summary:

Serves as the clinical informatics expert regarding workflows and documentation requirements for assigned clinical area(s). Evaluates clinical workflows/processes, and designs technical solutions to optimize system usability, address regulatory requirements, and promote Meaningful Use. Serves as a liaison between clinical and technical disciplines. Supports system adoption efforts. Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to enhance existing clinical systems, and/or implement new clinical systems. Adheres to all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN), Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline from an accredited institution, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below.
  • 3 years of clinical and/or operational experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below.
  • 2 years of experience working with clinical computer systems.
  • Knowledge of clinical best practices, operations, policies, procedures, workflows, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills Excellent critical thinking skills and analytical aptitude.
  • Ability to translate workflows and practice standards into an electronic environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with project and/or interdisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite of products (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Access to reliable transportation to travel to different sites within The MetroHealth System.
  • Ability to work in assigned area(s) and any other location based on operational or training needs.

Preferred:
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure for the State of Ohio.
  • Currently a Registered Nurse-Board Certified (RN-BC) in Informatics Nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or possess a current Informatics certification in another medical discipline from an approved issuing body.
  • Previous experience with clinical informatics systems.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices regarding clinical informatics processes, workflow analyses, and system designs.
  • Experience using Epic or another Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Experience with implementing or upgrading an EMR system.

Physical Requirements:
  • May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.
  • May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
  • Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
  • Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required.
