Job description

Job Title: Exercise Specialist

Location: Newark Beth Israel Medical Ctr

Department Name: Cardiac Rehabilitation

Shift: Day

Pay Range: $60,762.00 - $81,334.50 per hour

Pay Transparency:

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

Plan and implement treatment in coordination with multidisciplinary team for all scopes of Cardiac patients.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology
  • 1-3 years of Clinical experience
  • ACLS and BLS Certification through American Heart Association
  • Successful completion of all orientation programs

Preferred:

  • Exercise Physiology Certification (ACSM-EP, ACE-Clinical Specialist, NSCA, Clinical Exercise Physiology)
  • Experience with EKG monitoring
  • Cardiac focused internship or work experience

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • ACLS and BLS Certification through American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full Time
  • 37.5 hours/week

Essential Functions:

  • Performs exercises instructions to all cardiac patients
  • Assess and service patients and members to meet the established program guidelines
  • Assist in the supervision of Students and Volunteers
  • Assists in the development and implementation of hospital cardiac rehab and fitness programs
  • Assists with the implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services
  • Assures that the fitness equipment is well maintained and minimizes down time of equipment
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify what the patient's and members educational needs are
  • Educates internal and external customers on the practice and guidelines of cardiovascular disease, rehabilitation, exercise prescription and admission process
  • Monitors adequate and appropriate patient exercise sessions and treatment
  • Participates in the interdisciplinary patient member teaching process
  • Perform clinical exercise prescription for monitor and non-monitored cardiac rehab patients
  • Records statistical information for manager as assigned and document on patient treatment as required by hospital regulations
  • Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service
  • Adheres to patient rights provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records
  • Demonstrates professionalism with families, visitors, physicians, coworkers and supervisors
  • Listens and communicates effectively
  • Supports teamwork by cooperative problem solving through participation in meetings, projects, etc.
  • Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and imp organizational and department functions
  • Organizes work sets priorities with a minimum of supervision and seeks guidance as appropriate
  • Makes decisions that are timely and consistent with department, objectives, policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, accepts and benefits from constructive criticism
  • Participates in ongoing education as required
