What You’ll Do

As a Sleep Technician, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality sleep diagnostics and ensuring each patient feels safe, informed, and cared for throughout their study.

Sleep Study Preparation & Setup
  • Review patient history, confirm orders, and assess individual needs.

  • Welcome patients, verify identity, obtain consent, and explain the process.

  • Prepare and calibrate equipment; apply electrodes and sensors with precision.

  • Fit and desensitize patients to PAP interfaces to ensure comfort and compliance.

Conducting Sleep Studies
  • Perform and monitor a variety of sleep tests, including MSLT, MWT, PAP titration, oxygen titration, and parasomnia studies.

  • Conduct physiological calibrations and initiate “lights out” procedures.

  • Monitor data quality, correct artifacts, and document clinical observations.

  • Implement therapeutic interventions such as PAP and oxygen therapy.

  • Complete “lights on” procedures and assist patients post-study.

Scoring & Reporting
  • Score sleep stages and clinical events using AASM guidelines.

  • Generate accurate, detailed reports summarizing sleep and clinical data.

  • Manage and prepare data from portable monitoring devices.

  • Educate patients on home sleep testing and proper equipment use.

Service Excellence & Professionalism
  • Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, and HIPAA standards.

  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and inventory checks.

  • Respond to patient questions with empathy and clarity.

  • Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, critical thinking, and strong teamwork.


What We’re Looking For
  • Completion of an accredited sleep technology program (certificate or associate degree).

  • Certification from a nationally recognized board (RST, RPSGT, RRT-SDS).

  • Current CPR/BCLS certification.

  • Strong computer, communication, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a clinical environment.


Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, reaching, and communication.

  • Occasional walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, or crawling.

  • Ability to lift/move up to 10 lbs regularly, 25 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally.

  • Adequate visual acuity including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
