These professionals work at the intersection of technology, medicine, and data science, developing algorithms that can analyze medical data and assist clinicians. Their work may involve tasks such as building predictive models, automating image analysis, or supporting personalized medicine initiatives. Clinical AI professionals typically collaborate with healthcare providers, researchers, and technologists to ensure that AI tools are safe, effective, and aligned with clinical needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a clinical AI specialist?

To thrive as a Clinical AI Specialist, you need a strong background in healthcare, data science, and machine learning, typically supported by degrees in computer science or biomedical engineering and relevant healthcare experience. Familiarity with programming languages like Python, healthcare data standards (such as HL7 or FHIR), and AI platforms is crucial, along with certifications in AI or clinical informatics. Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills help bridge the gap between technical teams and clinical stakeholders. These skills are vital to ensure that AI solutions are effectively designed, accurately implemented, and safely integrated into clinical workflows to improve patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the strategy and execution for transforming the Care Console into an AI-first platform.

  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams, including engineering, UX, Data Science, and clinical stakeholders, to deliver product features.

  • Manage clinical prioritization and stakeholder relationships to align product development with clinical needs and long-term goals.

Job description

Who We Are

Verily Health is a data platform and technology company purpose-built to power AI-enabled precision health solutions that accelerate research and improve care for individuals and communities. Uniquely positioned at the intersection of technology, data science, and healthcare, Verily transforms multimodal health data into insights, models, and actions that make healthcare more personalized, predictive, and precise.

Description

At Verily, the Care Console empowers healthcare professionals to seamlessly coordinate and deliver virtual patient care. As a product leader within Verily's Care Solutions organization, you will contribute towards the strategy and drive the execution for the Care Consoleโ€”an enterprise-grade tool designed to empower physicians, nurses, health coaches, and other members of a patientโ€™s care team. This console is the gateway for users to manage patients, support virtual care workflows, and drive precision health outcomes. Your role will focus on transforming the console into a best-in-class, AI-first platform, creating streamlined, intuitive, and powerful workflows that enable Verily's customers to deliver unparalleled value to their patients and participants.

Responsibilities
  • Own the AI-First Strategy Execution: You will champion an AI-first approach to build tools that act as a force multiplierโ€”empowering care teams to exponentially scale their panel management beyond traditional models.
  • Orchestrate Cross-Functional Execution: Direct a dedicated engineering squad while serving as the collaborative hub for dozens of stakeholders. You will manage upward and influence without authority to secure resources and align priorities across shared platform engineering teams, UX, Data Science, Quality, and Regulatory.
  • Clinical Prioritization & Stakeholder Management: Leverage deep clinical software experience to rapidly triage complex requests. You must bring the domain expertise to negotiate product priorities directly with medical experts and health system leaders, effectively separating immediate needs from long-term goals.
  • Build a Unified Platform: Balance requirements from internal teams (e.g., Verily's Lightpath Solution) and external health system partners (via Verily's Pre Platform Solution). You will consolidate these diverse needs into a single backlog to build scalable, reusable features rather than bespoke solutions.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
  • Education & Core Experience: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, Medicine or equivalent practical experience, coupled with 8+ years of progressive product management experience.
  • Mandatory Provider-Facing Experience: A minimum of 3+ years directly defining, building, and scaling clinical-facing software tools (e.g., Care Management Platforms, EHRs, or Remote Patient Monitoring) used by healthcare professionals.
  • Matrix Leadership: Proven ability to influence without authority, successfully collaborating across complex cross-functional teams including Data Science, Engineering, Clinical, Quality, and Regulatory stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • AI Execution Experience: Experience in leading development of AI-driven products (e.g., LLMs, machine learning, or agentic workflows) within a complex, regulated enterprise environment.
  • Interoperability & EHRs: Deep, hands-on experience with healthcare data interoperability, including bidirectional EHR integrations and a strong working knowledge of healthcare data standards (e.g., FHIR, HL7).
  • Clinical Background: A formal clinical credential or background (e.g., RN, MD, PharmD, etc.) combined with technical product management experience.
  • Advanced Clinical AI: Direct experience building and deploying formal Clinical Decision Support (CDS) systems, automated triage, or AI-copilots specifically for clinical care teams.
