About Momentum Indoor Climbing
Momentum Indoor Climbing is a community-driven indoor climbing company with locations across Utah, Texas, and Washington. Founded in Utah, Momentum was created to inspire and empower people through climbing, fitness, and connection. Our gyms bring together people of all backgrounds and experience levels to challenge themselves, build friendships, and grow in a supportive environment. With world-class route setting, expert instruction, and a strong focus on community, Momentum is dedicated to helping every climber reach their full potential.
Momentum's Instructors are responsible for providing balanced and inviting classes for all levels,
catering to the specific needs of Momentum members and the climbing community. Movement is a vital component of training and recovery for climbers and athletes, and our Instructors plays a critical role in supporting the overall wellness program at Momentum. The instructor fosters a welcoming, safe environment and is expected to support students in developing their physical and mental well-being through movement.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching
โ€ข Teach a minimum of 1 yoga/pilates class per week and/or sub a minimum of 3 classes every quarter.
โ€ข Organize substitute teachers for your class a minimum of two weeks in advance using the provided
teacher sub list, working with the Yoga Manager when necessary to find last-minute substitutes.
โ€ข Sub additional classes when available.
โ€ข Plan and lead sessions that promote physical well-being, mindfulness, and safe alignment for
participants of all skill levels.
โ€ข Offer modifications and adjustments for students with varying abilities or injuries.
โ€ข Maintain knowledge of other Momentum teachers and their classes to provide informed recommendations
to students and staff.
Customer Service and Facility Obligations
โ€ข Organize and clean props after each class, maintaining the standards set by the program manager.
โ€ข Perform light cleaning of the studio, including sweeping floors when needed.
โ€ข Communicate student and space needs to the Yoga Manager.
โ€ข Answer student questions about classes, the benefits of yoga/pilates, and which classes might best suit their
needs. Refer them to the yoga manager for any questions you can't answer.
REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Hours and Availability
โ€ข Must be available to teach at least one class per week and sub when necessary, including times outside
of regularly scheduled classes.
โ€ข Substitute instructors must teach a minimum of 3 classes every quarter to remain active on the sub
list.
โ€ข Instructors are scheduled and approved to clock in 15 minutes before and out 15 minutes after class.
โ€ข Communicate regularly with the Yoga Manager regarding availability changes and other scheduling
needs.
โ€ข Instructors have the option to teach during special events or workshops that are scheduled outside of
regularly scheduled class times.
โ€ข While this is a gym-specific role, the instructor would be eligible to sub at other Momentum locations.
Experience, Skills, and Certifications
โ€ข Pilates training (6 months of teaching experience preferred)
โ€ข Climbing knowledge is preferred.
โ€ข Ability to teach at multiple locations strongly preferred.
โ€ข Yoga and/or Sculpt Instruction is a plus.
โ€ข A strong understanding of anatomy and functional movement is preferred.
โ€ข Additional certifications may be required for specific styles or topics being taught, as agreed with the yoga
manager.
โ€ข Passion for yoga, fitness, and holistic wellness, and the ability to connect with diverse student populations.
Environmental and Physical Demands
โ€ข Work in a loud and high-volume gym environment every shift
โ€ข Must be able to safely guide students through poses using healthy and safe alignment principles.
โ€ข Ability to project voice and instruct up to 30 participants in a loud gym environment.
โ€ข Ability to lead a well-planned class, combined with music.
โ€ข Ability to climb stairs to the studio space in some locations.
โ€ข Must be able to lift and move equipment (mats, weights, blocks, straps, etc.) up to 25 lbs.
