Job description

Function:ย 

The purpose of the Community Support Associate (CSA) is to act as an extension of the therapist in a community setting by teaching clients thinking and acting skills to satisfy their needs more effectively.ย 

Organizational duties & responsibilities:ย 

  1. The primary responsibility of all staff is to ensureย theย safety and well-being of allย Ramey-Estep/Re-group (RE)ย clients.ย 

  1. Supports the mission, vision, and values of RE.ย  Facilitatesย and adheres to the agencyโ€™s code of ethics,ย policies,ย and procedures.ย 

  1. Supports all functions thatย attainย and maintain accreditation and compliance with regulatory agencies.ย 

  1. Supports andย facilitatesย positive interaction withย clientsย and staffย byย exhibitingย bothย in-officeย and in-public when carrying out job duties: individualย maturity, respect for others, a team-centered approach, maintenance of confidential information, and awareness and sensitivity to cultural and other differences inย clientsย and staff.ย 

  1. Exhibits effective communication skills,ย including proper use of agency communication systems.ย 

  1. Participate inย appropriate professionalย development programs toย attainย and maintain competency.ย 

  1. Effectively manages financial and physical resources to achieve the mission of RE.ย 

  1. Reports incidents of abuse or potential abuse involvingย clientsย to theย appropriate authoritiesย and RE.ย 

Essentialย Dutiesย and Responsibilities:ย 

CSA is responsible for teaching skills necessary to allow clients to live with maximum independence in the community and consists of (1) or more of the following:
  1. Skills training, cueing, or supervision as identified in the clientโ€™s individualized treatment plan.
  2. Medication adherence and recognizing symptoms and side effects.
  3. Non-Clinical but therapeutic behavioral intervention, support, and skills training.
  4. Participating in and evaluating the progress of the individualized care plan.
  5. Assistance in accessing and utilizing community resources.
  6. Emotional regulation skills.
  7. Crisis coping skills.
  8. Developing and enhancing interpersonal skills.
ย CSAโ€™s responsibilities:
  1. Engage Consumers and family members.
  2. Crisis Management.
  3. Teach Self-advocacy and navigation skills.
  4. Coordinate Behaviors Management planning and implementation.
  5. Apply Ethics.
  6. Culturally competent.
  7. Document.
  8. Follow regulations.
  9. Have knowledge of MH/SA Issues.
  10. Use strength-based approaches.
  11. Development perspectives across the lifespan.
  12. ย  Other duties as assigned.

Working conditions/environment:ย 

  1. Shift isย generally dayshift, Monday โ€“ Friday, 9-5.ย 

  1. Holidays, weekends, and extra hours may occasionally beย required.ย 

  1. Office setting with extensive computer usage.ย 

  1. Intense, unpredictable population with the possibility of verbal and physical aggression.ย 

  1. Fast-paced environment with the need for quick decisions to deal with any crisis that may arise.ย ย 

  1. Environmentย is bothย indoorย andย outdoor.ย ย The environment is, at times, loud and stressful.ย 

Minimum job requirements:ย 

Education:ย 

High School Diplomaย or GED required.ย ย ย 

Bachelorโ€™sย degree inย aย related field from an accredited schoolย isย preferred.ย 

Experience:ย 

Have one (1) year of full-time experience working with individuals who receive services for treating a mental health disorder or co-occurring disorder and substance use disorder.

Specific Skills andย 

requirements:ย 

Must be at least 21 years of age.ย 

Technical requirements includeย proficiencyย with Microsoft Word, Excel,ย PowerPoint, and any other applications used by the organization or regulatory agencies.ย 

Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.ย 

Must be able toย demonstrateย a high degree of flexibility and be able to coordinate multiple priorities effectively.ย 

Capability to effectively handle confidential dataย promptly.ย ย 

Mustย be ableย toย interface well withย all departments in a highly professional manner.ย 

Ability to understand and relate to the needs ofย clientsย from diverse backgrounds.ย 

Ability to read, write and converse in English.ย 

Successful completion ofย aย pre-employmentย drug screen.ย 

Successful completion ofย a backgroundย screening.ย 

Successful completion of a TB skin test or proof of a negative chest x-ray or other documentation.ย 

Specialized Licenses or training:ย 

Successful completion of Excellent Foundations.ย 

Maintainย 40 hoursย of annual training.ย
