Join Our Team as Director, Origination – East


Are you a relationship-driven energy leader with a passion for creating innovative wholesale commodity solutions and closing complex deals? The Energy Authority (TEA) is looking for a strategic and commercially minded Director, Origination – East to help drive growth, expand market opportunities, and deliver meaningful value to our Public Power partners across the eastern U.S.

In this highly visible leadership role, you will leverage deep industry relationships, market expertise, and creative deal structuring to originate and execute impactful wholesale energy transactions across power, environmental, and natural gas markets. You’ll work cross-functionally with internal teams and external counterparties to develop innovative solutions, unlock new revenue opportunities, and help position TEA at the forefront of a rapidly evolving energy landscape.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the origination, structuring, negotiation, and execution of wholesale energy transactions focused on eastern U.S. markets
  • Drive sustainable client optimization and TEA-backed revenue generation through originated commodity activities
  • Lead sales and marketing efforts for wholesale origination products including power, environmental, and natural gas solutions
  • Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with counterparties and wholesale energy customers across multiple sectors
  • Identify and develop innovative commodity solutions that create value for clients and TEA
  • Negotiate and support the development of complex commercial agreements and commodity structures
  • Lead cross-functional deal teams through negotiation, execution, and implementation of commercial transactions
  • Coordinate internal approvals and stakeholder alignment necessary to successfully close deals
  • Monitor evolving market dynamics, regulatory developments, and industry trends to identify new commercial opportunities
  • Collaborate across teams to maximize the value of TEA’s people, systems, and economic capital
  • Support strategic growth initiatives and future sales opportunities throughout the eastern interconnect
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field required
  • 15+ years of experience in energy trading, origination, or commodity markets
  • Extensive industry relationships and established counterparty network across the eastern interconnect
  • Deep knowledge of wholesale power, environmental, and natural gas markets
  • Strong understanding of commodity trading, financial products, derivatives, risk management, and asset optimization
  • Proven ability to structure and close complex commercial transactions
  • Strong commercial instincts paired with strategic and innovative thinking
  • Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders across multiple teams
