Role Summary
As a Portfolio Manager within Commercial Banking, you will support the growth and management of commercial client relationships through credit analysis, portfolio management, and strategic partnership with Relationship Managers. This role plays a key part in maintaining strong credit quality while identifying opportunities to deepen client relationships across the bank. You'll gain exposure to complex commercial banking relationships and opportunities to grow your expertise in underwriting, client management, and financial strategy.
Key Accountabilities
  • Analyze financial statements, credit requests, and client performance to evaluate lending opportunities and risk.
  • Manage portfolio administration activities while ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Partner with Relationship Managers to support and strengthen commercial client relationships.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, repayment activity, and overall credit quality to proactively manage risk.
  • Recommend loan structures and participate in the loan approval and renewal process.
  • Identify and refer cross-sell opportunities across Treasury Management, Private Banking, Capital Markets, and other banking services.
  • Collaborate with internal partners and credit teams to deliver responsive, high-quality client service.
  • Participate in community and business activities to strengthen market presence and build professional relationships.

Please Note: This position can also be hired as a Portfolio Manager VP or SVP. We will assess applicants based on their skills and years of relevant experience.
Education & Experience
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, Corporate Banking, Specialized Banking, or Credit Approval
  • 2+ years of experience handling complex commercial credits
  • Reliable transportation and ability to lawfully drive, if applicable
Preferred
  • 1+ years of sales experience
  • 1+ years of formal credit training
  • Experience building and managing commercial client relationships
  • Strong communication, financial analysis, and relationship management skills
