Job description

Position Title: Client Services Coordinator
Corps/Department: The Salvation Army, Fairbanks Corps
Reports To: Fairbanks Corps Officers
FLSA Status: Part-Time/Non-Exempt
Scope of Position/Essential Functions:
The Client Services Coordinator's primary role is providing overall coordination and implementation of client services of Fairbanks Corps family services ministry. This position will provide daily services to individuals requiring all aspects of The Salvation Army assistance. The Client Services Coordinator will provide opportunities for community volunteers to support Salvation Army programs and ministries.
Education and Work Experience:
Required:
  • Associate degree or higher or 2 (two) years of experience in a related field (social services, education, health field, etc.).
  • A working knowledge of local resources and community stakeholders is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of general office equipment.
  • Ability to speak and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, beneficiaries, and clients.
  • Proficiency with essential Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving and criminal history records.

Preferred:
  • Efficiency in WellSky social services database.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse community agencies in Alaska or similar communities.

Essential Functions:
  • Supervise and direct food box distributions, including processing applications and coordinating with the Fairbanks Community Food Bank.
  • Provide services to families seeking assistance through community networking.
  • Provide family continuity of care to include rental assistance, utility assistance and vouchers for clothing, household goods and furniture.
  • Become proficient in the HUD HMIS data collection system or similar system.
  • Utilize HUD HMIS data collection system as required per grant stipulations.
  • Assist individuals seeking information regarding Salvation Army services, i.e in person, via phone or email.

Additional Job Duties:
  • Ensure consistent data input into The Salvation Army's social services software in order to evaluate the progress of families and be compliant with in-house statistical deadlines.
  • Maintain client and statistical records, reports, and data for all Family Services-related assistance, including BHAP fund distribution, by required deadlines.
  • Support data collection and outcome measurements leading to further enhancement of The Salvation Army's services to families at risk.
  • Outreach to other local social services agencies/programs.
  • Assist with seasonal programs to include, but not limited to; Back to School, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • Work with and recruit volunteers, in conjunction with the Volunteer Coordinator, to support Salvation Army social service opportunities.
  • Provide back up support, as needed, to CSFP and TEFAP food box distribution.
  • Driving responsibilities include, but are not limited to running work errands, picking up the mail, and attending staff meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment:
Work is performed in a heated and ventilated institution setting. Noise level is low. Exposure to extreme temperatures is not a requirement of this position.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push/pull objects, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to see and hear at normal ranges with corrective devices, if necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to understand and produce written and verbal information.
  • Ability to operative a motor vehicle in daylight, darkness, and in inclement weather conditions.

Sacred Boundaries and Protect the Mission: Must complete the online course for this area and pass the Background Check required by The Salvation Army for employment.
