Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Commercial Roofing Estimator & Project Manager to join our growing team. This hybrid role combines precise project estimation, hands-on project management, and light sales responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of commercial roofing systems, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to build lasting client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimation:
  • Perform accurate take-offs to determine our materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, or other costs required to complete the project.
  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial roofing projects based on specifications, drawings, and site visits.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing and ensure cost efficiency.
  • Provide additional pricing and roof system options based on the client's needs or goals.

Project Management:
  • Oversee roofing projects from start to finish, ensuring compliance with safety standards and quality expectations.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings and coordinate any potential roadblocks with the clients to ensure seamless installation.
  • Coordinate schedules with our superintendents and clients.
  • Create and submit a schedule of values, bonds, COI, and put together submittals and shop drawings.
  • Monitor project progress, resolve issues, and maintain clear communication with clients and internal teams.
  • Manage budgets and track expenses to ensure profitability.
  • Submit accurate billings on time on all projects to the client.
  • Create and submit sheet metal fabrication tickets to our metal shop for fabrication.
  • Prepare and issue change orders to customers as requested or needed on projects.

Sales & Client Relations:
  • Assist in generating leads and nurturing client relationships.
  • Prepare and present proposals to clients, explaining scope, pricing, and timelines.
  • Support the sales team in closing deals and upselling additional services when appropriate.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of commercial roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, metal, etc.).
  • Estimation Expertise: Proficiency in reading blueprints, specifications, and using estimating software. Sage Estimating software is preferred.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Project management software use is required.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client interaction and team coordination.
  • Sales Acumen: Basic sales skills with the ability to build rapport and identify client needs.
  • Software Skills: Familiarity with project management tools, CRM systems, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, and Microsoft Office Suite. CAD experience is a bonus.
  • Experience: 3+ years in commercial roofing estimation and/or project management preferred.
  • Certifications: Knowledge of local building codes is a plus.
