Job description

As a client advocate at Northstar Behavioral Health you will have the opportunity to provide person centered care in an opiate and stimulant specific program with an energetic team. Position Description

  1. Conduct group facilitation as it relates to scope of practice and complete all appropriate documentation according to NBH and its governing bodies expectations.

  2. Document services provided in a weekly note, individual note, and/or information note.  Documentation will be completed according to NBH policies and procedures and standards established by governing bodies.

  3. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and supervision meetings as needed.

  4. Exhibits knowledge of core competencies in relation to working with co-occurring disorders through continuing education and implementing skills into all aspects of treatment.

  5. Complete other tasks as assigned by your supervisor.

  6. Initiate and complete all relevant documentation, i.e., group attendance records, group notes, progress notes, communication log, etc. within time frames 

  7. Demonstrate ability to adjust workload to meet fluctuation in client census

  8. Able to identify significant changes in patient’s condition and take appropriate actions as evidenced in reporting, staffing consultations, and documentation.

  9. Serve as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team and attend multidisciplinary team meetings as needed.

  10. Attend All-Staff meetings and participate as needed.

Required Skills and Experience: (Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge skills and abilities)

  • Licensed Teacher with Family Education/Early Childhood, or Parent and Family Education

  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW)

  • Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW)

  • Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW)

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

  • Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT)

  • Licensed Psychological Practitioner (LPP)

  • Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Must know and understand the implications of 245G, sections 245A.65, 626.557, and 626.5572, and Chapter 260E.

  • CPR Certification or attain within 30 days

  • Must have 2 years of freedom from chemical use problems

  • Must pass a State of Minnesota Background Check

  • Must possess a current Minnesota Driver’s License with acceptable driving record

  • Ability to use Google Suite programs and other computer skills
