Job description

Citi's Spread Products is seeking an experienced Vice President or Director to join its Structuring business, with focus on municipal natural gas and power prepayment transactions ("Municipal Prepays") in addition to other structured credit initiatives.
The Muni Prepay Structurer is a strategic professional who has experience originating, structuring and executing Muni Prepay transactions. The role will require both direct client origination and coordination across major stakeholders, Sales/Banking, Legal, Tax, Credit Risk, Treasury and Trading.
Responsibilities:
  • The Muni Prepay Structurer will hold a key role in originating, structuring and executing Municipal Prepay transactions, with Citi acting as prepaid supplier, commodity upstream supplier and/or funding recipient
  • Lead origination efforts with municipal and industrial commodity participants and external funding recipients
  • Develop structural enhancements to adapt to changing market dynamics, will involve working with all internal control functions (Including Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Treasury, Tax, etc.) to obtain necessary approvals
  • Work in close partnership with control functions and external counterparties to ensure appropriate governance, compliance and control infrastructure with each execution (includes entity creation and compliance, licensing, reporting, etc.
  • Work on other new product initiatives within Spread Products Structuring, including bespoke client financings, secured funding and risk defeasance transactions
  • Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
  • Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same, demonstrating proper consideration for the firm's reputation.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Citi's Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by your role which will be communicated to you
  • Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Recommended Qualifications:
  • 6-12 years structuring experience from a financial institution, particularly in the municipal prepay sector
  • Demonstrated quantitative and analytical skills
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of municipal prepay landscape, including interested funding recipients, industrial participants
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to attend client meetings and industry conferences

Education:
  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
