Engineering Project Coordinator

About the Opportunity

Brighton Solutions is seeking an Engineering Project Coordinator to support a nationally recognized testing laboratory specializing in product testing, certification, and technical evaluations of construction-related products.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining project management with technical problem-solving. You'll coordinate multiple product testing projects, serve as a primary internal client contact, work alongside engineers and laboratory technicians, and help ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

What You'll Do
  • Manage multiple product testing projects from initiation through completion.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout each project.
  • Coordinate schedules between clients, engineers, laboratory technicians, and support staff.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, test plans, and customer requirements.
  • Ensure testing activities remain on schedule while meeting project scope and quality standards.
  • Monitor project milestones, identify risks, and proactively resolve scheduling or technical issues.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, testing records, photographs, and reports.
  • Guide customers through the testing and certification process while providing regular project updates.
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable quality standards, including ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
  • Collaborate with laboratory personnel to improve testing processes and project workflows.
  • Support laboratory operations while maintaining a strong commitment to workplace safety.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Fire Protection, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
  • 2+ years of project management, project coordination, engineering, laboratory, testing, manufacturing, construction, or technical operations experience.
  • Experience working in a testing laboratory, engineering environment, manufacturing facility, or Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC) organization is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and testing documentation.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word). Experience with project management software or laboratory information systems is a plus.
  • Experience with ISO quality systems is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout portions of the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work around laboratory testing equipment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed footwear.
  • Comfortable working in both laboratory and office environments.
