Job description

Resilient Strategies LLC (RS)

Resilient Strategies LLC is an organization that provides the backend finance, administrative, and HR service functions for our Network Partners. Resilient Strategies is a growing organization that currently supports multiple organizations working across strategies that include community organizing, direct service, policy advocacy and capacity building.

Position Overview

Resilient Strategies seeks a dynamic and resourceful LLC Finance Manager to join our innovative team. The LLC Finance Manager is a service-oriented, systems thinker able to lead and manage cross-cutting projects and workflows across different departments and teams. This is a full-time and remote or hybrid position.

The LLC Finance Manager is the person making sure that money moves accurately and on time between our network partners, so that resources actually reach the people doing the frontline work of building power. This isn't accounting removed from the movement; it's accounting in service of the movement—every reconciled balance sheet and clean audit trail is what keeps the movement's engine running. We're looking for someone who sees precision and integrity in the numbers as its own form of solidarity with the organizers and communities we support.

The LLC Finance Manager will manage the accounting for our LLC entities. This position involves overseeing monthly close processes, balance sheet reconciliation, accounts receivable and partner billing, inter-company reconciliation, bank account management, and tax preparation coordination. The role will offer opportunities to build out an area of accounting for newly emerging entities. Qualified candidates will have a strong skill set in for-profit accounting.

This position is full-time and remote, with expected travel 2-4 times each year to the Bay Area for retreats and meetings. In all duties and responsibilities, this position exercises discretion and independent judgment. The position will report to the Deputy Director of Accounting at Resilient Strategies.

Essential Responsibilities

The following responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel classified in this manner. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

  1. Resilient Strategies book management (50%)
    • LLC revenue recognition
    • Balance sheet reconciliation
    • Maintain books of other LLCs in the RS network
    • Conduct monthly close and partner billing process
  2. PAC and Other LLC entity management (50%)
    • Providing monthly financials and invoices to the other LLCs in our network
    • Quarterly review of open invoices of our LLCs
    • Political Action Committee invoicing and expense/revenue reconciliations
    • Monthly billing to our entities and outside groups
Essential Qualifications

As a prerequisite, the successful candidate must believe in the core values of CEP, CEPEF and Resilient Strategies and be driven by a desire to create collective movement infrastructure and support organizations to advance their vision. The candidate should demonstrate a passion for breaking new ground to lead social change. Beyond that, we are seeking a detail-oriented candidate that has experience in a fast-paced environment with an orientation to create impact for the team and projects we support.

Additional requirements are:
  • 3-4 years of experience with LLC financial management
  • 3 years of experience with accounting software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills: must be able to communicate confidently and effectively with project team members and across departments and teams
  • Computer literacy with Mac OS, Google Suite/Apps, MS Word, MS Excel, and other basic software applications
  • Strong data handling skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple requests and competing deadlines
  • Ability to process large volumes of email inquiries on a daily basis
  • Ability to learn new platforms easily and manage multiple sources of data
  • Willingness to work collaboratively, but with the capacity to work independently
  • Interest in working in a client service capacity
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience in tax returns and compliance knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of project management framework and experience using project management tools a plus (for example: Asana, Trello, Monday, Airtable)
  • Experience with and understanding of social justice work, community organizing, and non-profits
  • Experience working with basebuilding and organizing groups

This position will begin as remote with the opportunity to transition to in-person at the Oakland office. Offices are shared among employees.

  • Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Able to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Compensation:

This is a full time, exempt position with a salary range of $75,000 - $90,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Resilient Strategies provides competitive benefits, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision) and substantial vacation days and paid time off.

Position may be filled before the deadline so early submissions are encouraged.
