Position Summary

The Flint River Entertainment Complex is comprised of the Albany Civic Center, Albany Municipal Auditorium, and Veterans Park Amphitheater and all venues under the purview of this position. These three operations share a single staff, and the focus of the Event Manager will be split between the venues. The Event Manager serves as the Promoter/Artist/Client representative's link to the facility and all internal departments' representatives to the Promoter/Artist/Client. The Event Manager serves as the Manager on Duty, which includes the supervision of part-time workers for events and, during events, aids fans and patrons with a successful event experience. The Events Manager also completes the settlement of events with each respective promoter/client who uses the facility.

This role pays an annual salary of $45,000-$55,000

Benefits for Full-Time Roles: Health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) savings plan; 401(k) matching; and paid time off (vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays).

This position will remain open until September 18, 2026.

About the Venue

The Flint River Entertainment Complex is owned by the City of Albany and is operated by OVG. Located in Albany, Ga., Flint River Entertainment Complex is comprised of three venues- the Albany Civic Center, Albany Municipal Auditorium, and the Veterans Park Amphitheatre. Hosting live spectator events, banquets, meetings, trade shows, conferences, concerts, and more, the Flint River Entertainment Complex prides itself on bringing quality entertainment to southwest Georgia. 

Responsibilities
  • Plan, service, and supervise events
  • Plan, manage, and evaluate the work of subordinates
  • Provide leadership for event personnel
  • Analyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of organizational objectives
  • Communicate clearly and concisely
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors and facility users
  • Assist in the advancement of events/shows
  • Assist in the preparation of building to meet the requirements of upcoming events/shows
  • Complete pre-show event financial estimates
  • Complete post-show event settlements
  • Advise lessees on services available from independent contractors for events
  • Recruit and train event, parking, and security staff
  • Create work schedules for event, parking and security staff; delegate assignments; and review performance and results
  • Function as a liaison between users of the facility and the facility staff
  • Recommend and evaluate required event staffing levels
  • Coordinate communication between building staff and show staff during load-in and load-out
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with lessees, employees, municipal officials, service contractors and patrons/public
  • Investigate and resolve event-related complaints in a professional manner, ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Ensure maintenance of equipment (radios, headsets, etc.) for all event, parking and security staff
  • Ensure that the facility is cleaned prior to, during and after all events to maintain building appearance and increase customer satisfaction
  • Make hospitality arrangements as needed
  • Communicate with municipal officials, including police, fire and medical services; event staff; and public to ensure security of patrons and events run smoothly
  • Review emergency planning procedures with all events staff for each event
  • Create and distribute detailed data sheets prior to every event
  • Assist and manage changeover crew with breakdown and setup of events
  • Coordinate with the Director of Finance as needed to ensure event staff and other applicable parties are paid
  • Coordinate service needs with the Food and Beverage provider as needed
  • Serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of increasingly responsible experience in event management in a stadium, arena, theater, convention center or public assembly facility setting
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with major coursework in facility management, hospitality management, business, or related field
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must have strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, word processing, and Internet
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current CPR certificate
  • Knowledge of operational characteristics of events
  • Ability to identify the needs of users of the facility
  • Knowledge of crowd management and control techniques
  • Knowledge of customer service practices
  • Knowledge of principles of supervision and training
  • Demonstrated familiarity with facility use contracts
  • Knowledge of fire and public safety regulations
  • Knowledge of A/V equipment and electronic systems in public assembly facilities
  • Experience with budget preparation and control
  • Familiarity with terminology used in entertainment/convention/public assembly settings
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including long nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays as needed
