Job description

Job Description

Our client is seeking a Senior Assistant Vice President to lead and grow a key strategic client relationship within its Banking and Financial Services practice. The client is a major U.S. financial institution with a significant consumer lending portfolio. This role is the primary point of accountability for the relationship, responsible for expanding our client's footprint, deepening stakeholder engagement, and driving incremental revenue through data management and analytics solutions.

The individual will operate at the intersection of banking domain expertise and data, analytics and AI advisory, engaging senior business and technology stakeholders on challenges spanning customer analytics, credit risk, fraud, collections, and data infrastructure etc. This is not a transactional sales role; the ideal candidate is a trusted advisor who brings genuine domain and analytics credibility to every client interaction.

Working closely with internal delivery leads, analytics solution teams, and practice leaders, the Senior AVP will own the account growth agenda, shape new opportunities, and ensure our client is consistently positioned as a strategic partner.

Responsibilities

Strategic Account Management

  • Own the end-to-end client relationship for a major strategic banking account, serving as our client's primary senior point of contact.
  • Develop and execute a multi-year account growth plan aligned to the client's data, analytics, and operational priorities.
  • Drive expansion across buying centers including Risk, Marketing, Technology, Operations, Compliance, and Finance within the client organization.
  • Maintain a strong pulse on client satisfaction, delivery performance, and renewal risk; proactively address issues before they escalate.

Banking Domain Advisory

  • Advise client stakeholders on data management and analytics strategies across the full consumer lending lifecycle: acquisition, activation, usage, line management, retention, and attrition.
  • Bring an informed perspective on credit card lending program analytics, including partner data integration, cardholder segmentation, and program P&L optimization.
  • Engage credibly on credit risk topics: application scoring, behavioral risk, line management, account management strategies, and stress testing.
  • Contribute meaningfully to client conversations on fraud analytics, disputes management, regulatory analytics (CFPB, fair lending, Reg Z), and collections optimization.

Data Management & Analytics Opportunity Development

  • Identify and shape opportunities for EXL's data management capabilities, including data governance, data quality, cloud platform modernization, and reporting infrastructure.
  • Translate client business priorities into analytics use cases: propensity models, next-best-action engines, customer lifetime value, real-time fraud scoring, delinquency prediction, and digital engagement analytics.
  • Partner with internal analytics, AI, and technology solution teams to develop compelling proposals, proof-of-concepts, and business cases tailored to the client's environment.
  • Stay current on the client's technology landscape and data ecosystem to identify integration points and accelerate solution deployment.

Revenue Growth & Pipeline Management

  • Own the account revenue target and actively manage a pipeline of new opportunities across analytics, data management, AI/ML, and operations.
  • Lead or coordinate RFP responses, solution presentations, commercial negotiations, and contract renewals.
  • Identify and execute cross-sell and upsell opportunities across our client's service portfolio.
  • Provide accurate, timely pipeline reporting and account status updates to our client's leadership.

Thought Leadership & Market Presence

  • Represent our client's banking data and analytics capabilities in executive client meetings, industry conferences, and client-facing engagements.
  • Contribute to our client's perspective on consumer lending and analytics trends, including AI-driven enterprise developments.
  • Mentor and guide junior account team members; help build internal client management capabilities over time..

Qualifications

  • 8 to 12 years of experience in consumer lending or financial services, with meaningful exposure to data management, analytics, or technology-led transformation.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. consumer lending business models, including co-branded and partnership programs, issuer economics, and full portfolio lifecycle management.
  • Track record of managing and growing strategic client relationships, preferably in a consulting, analytics services, or BPO/ITO context.
  • Hands-on or advisory experience in lending analytics: customer acquisition modeling, credit risk and scoring strategies, behavioral analytics, fraud detection, collections scoring, or campaign analytics.
  • Solid grasp of data management concepts: data governance, data quality, cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, AWS/Azure/GCP), and analytics engineering.
  • Experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders across Risk, Marketing, Technology, and Operations functions at` large financial institutions.
  • Ability to translate business problems into analytics and technology solution narratives, comfortable in both executive and technical conversations.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree in Analytics, Finance, Statistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Based in New York area.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as required.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • The ideal candidate has spent their career at the intersection of consumer lending and data and analytics, whether inside a financial institution, at a consulting firm serving banking clients, or within a data and analytics services organization. They understand how financial institutions are run, how decisions get made, and where data and analytics create real competitive advantage.
  • This person does not need to be a technologist but must be analytically credible. They bring a genuine perspective on where analytics, AI and data management are taking the consumer lending business and can articulate our client's role in that journey with confidence and specificity.
