Accounting Manager

Are you an Accounting Manager who enjoys being more than just the person who closes the books? Our client, a well-established independent insurance agency, is looking for a strategic finance leader who thrives on solving business challenges, partnering with executive leadership, and driving financial performance.


What You'll Do

  • Lead the company's full-cycle accounting function and monthly financial reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze retention reports that provide critical insight into revenue performance and client trends.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, reduce costs, and strengthen financial performance.
  • Build financial models, forecasts, executive presentations, and ad hoc analyses that support strategic business decisions.
  • Evaluate acquisition opportunities by analyzing financial performance, growth potential, staffing, and client retention.
  • Audit producer commissions and ensure accurate compensation calculations.
  • Develop total compensation analyses for salary and merit reviews.
  • Oversee payroll audits, 1099 reporting, ACH payments, surplus lines taxes, trust accounts, and other key accounting processes.
  • Manage HR administration, including employee benefits, annual open enrollment, FMLA, and employee documentation.
  • Serve as the primary accounting resource for leadership and departments across the organization while coordinating IT-related operational needs.


What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven experience managing the full accounting cycle with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced Excel skills with strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience creating executive-level financial reports, forecasts, and presentations.
  • HR administration experience, including benefits and payroll support.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional services experience required; insurance industry experience is highly preferred. Candidates from financial services, legal, or mortgage environments are also encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with Nexsure/DYAD is a strong plus.
  • Comfortable leveraging AI and technology to improve efficiency.
