A Client Account Manager is responsible for managing relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met, and acting as the main point of contact between the client and the company. They oversee client accounts, address concerns or issues, and work to deliver solutions that satisfy both the client and the business. Their role often includes coordinating with internal teams, tracking the progress of projects, and identifying opportunities for upselling or improving client satisfaction. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.

How does a client account manager typically collaborate with sales, marketing, and product teams to support client needs?

Client Account Managers serve as a bridge between clients and internal teams, frequently collaborating with sales to identify upsell opportunities and ensure contract renewals. They work closely with marketing to align on campaigns or materials tailored to client goals, and coordinate with product teams to communicate client feedback or request features. To excel as a Client Account Manager, you need strong relationship-building skills, sales or account management experience, and often a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Job description

Lord Abbett is seeking a Client Account Manager to join the Global Investor Services (GIS) organization, supporting the firm's institutional onboarding, implementation, and client lifecycle management capabilities. This role serves as the primary operational lead for a portfolio of institutional clients partnering closely with Sales, Relationship Management, Portfolio Management, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Technology, custodians, and external service providers.

The Client Account Manager is responsible for independently managing client onboarding, operational servicing, and lifecycle events while coordinating cross-functional activities to ensure timely execution, operational excellence, and strong governance. The role requires strong project management skills, operational discipline, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders to deliver a high-quality client experience while maintaining an appropriate control environment.

This position is ideal for a client-focused professional with institutional onboarding or servicing experience who is looking to expand their expertise by managing increasingly complex client relationships while contributing to the continued evolution of Lord Abbett's institutional servicing platform.

Client Lifecycle Management & Operational Excellence

  • Serve as the primary operational lead for a portfolio of institutional clients, managing onboarding, implementation, ongoing servicing, and lifecycle events.
  • Lead onboarding and implementation projects from initiation through successful completion.
  • Coordinate account openings, documentation, funding events, account maintenance, benchmark changes, guideline updates, and other lifecycle events.
  • Respond to client inquiries, operational due diligence requests, and servicing activities in accordance with established service standards.
  • Coordinate recurring and ad hoc client reporting requirements with internal partners.
  • Partner with Relationship Management and Institutional Sales to provide operational support throughout the client lifecycle.
  • Build trusted working relationships with clients and internal partners while delivering a responsive, solutions-oriented service experience.

Project Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Develop and manage implementation plans, timelines, milestones, and dependencies across multiple concurrent client initiatives.
  • Coordinate activities across Investments, Operations, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Client Reporting, custodians, consultants, and external vendors to ensure successful execution.
  • Proactively identify implementation risks, resolve issues, and escalate complex matters appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and provide clear communication to stakeholders throughout the client lifecycle.
  • Contribute to process redesign, workflow standardization, and automation initiatives that improve scalability and reduce operational risk.
  •  Share knowledge and best practices that strengthen consistency across the Client Account Management function.

  • 7-10 yearsโ€™ experience in institutional asset management, client onboarding, implementation, client service, operations, or relationship support.
  •  Strong understanding of the institutional client lifecycle, including onboarding, implementation, account maintenance, and operational servicing.
  • Experience managing multiple onboarding projects or client servicing initiatives simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of institutional investment products, separate accounts, and operational workflows.
  • Demonstrated project management and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and operational risk awareness.
  • Experience with client lifecycle management systems, workflow tools, or onboarding platforms preferred.
