JOB SUMMARY
The Bakery Clerk 1 provides exceptional guest service. Their primary role is to greet guests and process and fulfill orders. Clerks also have a strong working knowledge of the products and services that are offered within the department. This knowledge allows them to share suggestions with guests. They are responsible to maintain department standards and cleanliness. Desire to build knowledge and skills within the department and store.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • A Bakery Clerk 1 will fill, arrange, rotate, and merchandising displays/cases within the Bakery Department. Maintain attractive and appealing cases and displays for increased sales.
  • Learn and assist with pricing, dating, and/or packaging bakery products in accordance with the department and store's policies.
  • Capable of recognizing the quality of and distinguishing between the many different bakery products. Maintain product quality and cost control to maximize sales and profits and minimize losses.
  • A Bakery Clerk 1 possesses knowledge of bakery items, descriptions, and ingredients to better serve our guests and answer any questions that might arise.
  • Take special orders accurately and provide suggestions as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness standards within the department.
  • A Bakery Clerk 1 will follow company rules and state-mandated health and safety laws (Food Handlers Permit)
  • Maintain proper hygiene by washing hands frequently.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • No previous experience needed only a willingness to learn.
  • A current and valid state-issued Food Handler's Permit
  • Ability to communicate with others
  • Regular on-site attendance required
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS
Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with the possibility of frequent exposure to hot or cold conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand, and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries. Also requires standing, walking and bending throughout the entire workday and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 30 pounds from location to location.
