Job description

We are a cleantech contractor that provides comprehensive energy efficiency services for energy service companies (ESCOs) and corporate clients. Our services are provided by six specialized units focused on weatherization, water efficiency engineering, lighting, airflow controls, HVAC, and infrastructure solutions.


ECM Holding Company is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven B2B Business Development ย Representative to drive revenue growth by acquiring and managing business clients. In this role, you will be calling on Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) throughout the Midwest, Mountain, and Southwestern US, selling ECMโ€™s suite of contracting solutions to support their project work as a subcontractor. ย ย 

This is a long-term account acquisition and maintenance role to develop customers that will work with ECM for multiple projects over multiple years. ย You will be reporting to the VP of Business Development with flexibility to call on customers throughout the Midwest and Western US.

ย Work Schedule:
โ€ข Remote

โ€ข Travel: ย 40-60%
โ€ข Location preference: near major airport, preference for location in Chicago, Denver, Phoenix, or similar major metro area.

โ€ข Prospecting and Lead Generation: Identify and engage potential business clients through cold calling, networking, and digital outreach.
โ€ข Market Analysis: Research industry trends, competitor activities, and client needs to develop effective sales strategies.
โ€ข Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers to foster trust and long-term partnerships.
โ€ข Solution Selling: Present and promote products/services tailored to client requirements, demonstrating clear value propositions.
โ€ข Negotiation and Closing: Negotiate terms and finalize agreements to achieve sales targets and ensure client satisfaction.
โ€ข Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate records of opportunities and activities using CRM tools, providing timely reports and forecasts.
โ€ข Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as Marketing and Operations to ensure seamless delivery and customer success.
โ€ข Industry Representation: Attend trade shows, conferences, and networking events to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.
โ€ข Team selling: ย work with internal SMEs and senior business development executives for team-based selling, particularly during the first 12-18 months of work.


โ€ข Bachelor's degree preferred
โ€ข 5+ years of B2B sales experience, preferably in HVAC, controls, energy conservation, building technologies, renewable energy, or similar solutions.
โ€ข Market segment experience in selling or working with Energy Service Companies is a plus
โ€ข Proven track record of exceeding sales targets
โ€ข Experience in building market share in accounts with active incumbent competitors
โ€ข Experience in competitive RFPs and competitive bidding environments a plus
โ€ข Formal or structured training in sales fundamentals is required
โ€ข Technical aptitude or engineering background is preferred
โ€ข Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
โ€ข Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite
โ€ข Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment
