Job description

GreenCore Biofuels is a clean fuels company with a purpose to power society with more sustainable energy through collaboration to re-imagine the possibilities and solutions to accelerating the circular economy. As part of its growth strategy to expand its portfolio of renewable natural gas (RNG) production assets in North America, GreenCore Biofuels is looking to hire an enthusiastic and entrepreneurial individual to join its growing team as a Facilities Engineer at the Junction City Clean Fuels (JCCF) RNG facility in Junction City, Oregon.

The Facilities Engineer at the JCCF RNG facility is a critical role that is integral to operational excellence and the delivery of the maintenance and field improvement programs. The Facility Engineer will work and collaborate closely with the site operations team, engineering consultants, and construction contractors in delivering these programs. The successful candidate will be a junior engineer (3 - 10 years experience) that is located at the facility in Junction City and report to the Director of Engineering and Projects.

The successful candidate will demonstrate core values aligned with those of GreenCore Biofuels, being Honesty, Integrity, Respect, and Curiosity. The Facility Engineer will be a leader in delivering a safe workplace to ensure everyone goes home safely every day. The successful candidate will be expected to have a continuous improvement mindset with an external focus to learn from others and adopt best practices, simplify work processes, and to strengthen the asset. A combination of commercial acumen and delivery focus will be required of this role to ensure that the resources used to improve the asset do so in support of the overall viability and commercial health of the asset.

1. Key Responsibilities

A. Field Improvement Projects

  • Manage the facility opportunity list for field improvement (FIMP) projects and develop the scope of these projects to a “Basis of Design” level of maturity for evaluation.
  • Deliver, on schedule and on budget, the Front-End Engineering Design and Final Investment Decision on FIMP Projects.
  • Deliver, on schedule and on budget, Approved FIMP Projects.
  • Manage and Deliver annual FIMP project budget.

B. Maintenance Engineering

  • Develop a set of reliability / uptime key performance indicators (KPI) to monitor the assets maintenance performance.
  • Lead After Action Reviews / Investigations into equipment failures and report out to site leadership on findings and recommendations.
  • Review and update the comprehensive preventative maintenance plan for all existing equipment.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the electronic maintenance management system used on site including generating work order requests, developing work order scope, scheduling work orders, and supporting requests for information required to deliver the maintenance program.

C. Management of Change Coordination

  • Prepare and present Management of Change (MOC) proposals at the regular MOC committee meeting.
  • Manage the MOC action board and ensure follow up and closure of MOC Actions.
  • Manage document control of updates and drawing revisions associated with MOC’s and delivered projects.

D. Development Capital Projects

  • Support the project manager in delivery of Development Capital Projects to be executed at the site.
  • Manage the projects team action board and ensure follow up and closure of project related actions.

E. Operations Support

  • Lead in delivering operational excellence and safety by prioritizing a safe work culture.
  • Lead daily operations scrum meeting.
  • Manage the operations scrum action board and ensure follow up and closure of operations related actions.
  • Generate Process Improvement Opportunities.

2. Essential Skills/Knowledge and Experience

  • Applies mechanical and discipline engineering expertise to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective solutions, ensuring design packages and technical deliverables are completed on schedule and meet quality requirements.
  • Drives engineering decisions that reduce risk, improve reliability, and support successful project execution.
  • Ensures projects adhere to established governance frameworks, policies, and stage-gate requirements, providing clear visibility into performance, risks, and decision-making.
  • Maintains accountability for scope, cost, schedule, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Tracks, prioritizes, and drives closure of project actions, risks, and issues to maintain project momentum and minimize execution delays.
  • Monitors project budgets, forecasts, and expenditures to maintain cost performance and identify variances early.
  • Develops, maintains, and monitors integrated project schedules, ensuring milestones, dependencies, and critical path activities are accurately tracked.
  • Proactively identifies schedule risks and implements recovery plans to support on-time project delivery.
  • Leverages data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools to identify trends, measure performance, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Maintains accurate and organized project documentation, ensuring timely distribution, version control, and compliance with document management standards.
  • Facilitates Agile and Scrum practices to improve team productivity, transparency, and delivery performance.

3. Leadership and communication

The Facility Engineer will be a representative of GreenCore Biofuels on site at JCCF and is expected to lead in delivering a safety culture and operational excellence. The successful candidate is expected to take an active role in the day-to-day site operation with willingness to be involved in regular meetings and maintenance activities, supervise projects (construction work on site), and lead commissioning and operational activities when required.
