Summary:
This position is responsible for performing general custodial work required in the routine cleaning, sanitizing, disinfecting, and upkeep of all designated interior and exterior building or spaces according to set standards and procedures for all campus buildings covered by Facilities and Services. This position is under direct supervision from a designated supervisor/lead.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Clean, disinfect, sanitize, and service restroom facilities and fixtures, including but not limited to wipe down and clean partitions and replenish supplies.
  • Keep floors free of dirt and debris by mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and scrubbing of floors and other surfaces. Move and arrange furniture as needed to accomplish routine tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors.
  • Collect and place debris and recyclable material removed from buildings in containers for removal; empty authorized waste containers and check and/or replace liners. Empty trash cans and remove recycling from collection areas to proper bins for removal.
  • Clean and dust furniture, tables, exhibit cases, fixtures, windows, doors, trim, and related furnishings; clean, disinfect, and wax furniture as necessary. High and low dusting of various surfaces.
  • Clean, buff, wax, renovate, and renew floor surface finishes using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Wash and/or clean windows, walls, partitions, and door glass; washes interior glass, including on partitions, framed pictures, signage, and doors.
  • Perform overhead tasks, such as a cleaning lights, light and ventilation fixtures, and change light bulbs, etc.
  • Operate a variety of maintenance and cleaning equipment which includes rotators, extractors, and automatic scrubbers, power sweepers, vacuum cleaners, buffers for vinyl and other hard floor surfaces, carpet cleaning machines which shampoo, extract soil and water from carpets and furniture.
  • Assist, clean, setup for special projects, events, remodeling, and construction.
  • Move furniture, supplies, miscellaneous equipment, and set up meeting space as directed. Sweep or shovel snow from steps and walks at building entrances and connecting walks; spread ice melts as needed.
  • Make minor repairs as able and report observed needs to repair buildings and to repair/replace equipment to supervisor. Monitor and/or notify supervisor of diminishing supplies. Perform other duties as assigned and or required.
