Summary

The Clean Energy Advisor is a one-year, on-the-job training opportunity designed to support students, adult learners, and part-time workers seeking to launch a career in California's clean energy industry. This role offers flexible scheduling within standard business hours and combines paid online coursework, in-person learning, and hands-on experience supporting the Central California Rural Regional Energy Network's (CCR REN) Commercial Energy Improvement Program. Focused on delivering no-cost energy upgrades to hard-to-reach businesses in the Eastern Sierra. The Clean Energy Advisor will gain practical skills while serving the local community. Advisors will obtain industry-recognized certifications, gain 1,000+ hours of paid training/field experience, and valuable experience within the clean energy industry. Participants will receive paid resume support, interview preparation, and job-seeking time, with the goal of successfully transitioning into a full-time role in the energy efficiency sector. Pathways into roles such as Energy Advisor, Auditor, Field Representative, and/or Program Coordinator will be identified.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in, engage with, and learn the materials presented during the on-the-job education and training.
  • Collaborate with and support the CCR REN Partner, the San Joaquin Valley Clean Energy Organization, to conduct outreach to potential customers, including presentations, and one-on-one meetings, as needed.
  • Conduct on-site equipment assessments with customers that align with program offerings, gather required photos and other necessary documentation to make recommendations.
  • Present the corresponding recommendations for services offered by the program and gain commitments by customers to proceed through obtaining necessary signed documents and other required customer information.
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain project data to ensure compliance with existing project delivery processes.
  • Proactively engage with underrepresented customer segments to ensure equitable program access and benefits.
  • Support the successful completion of energy efficiency projects from beginning-to-end by maintaining communication with the customers and coordinating with the program delivery team. Other duties as assigned to support program delivery and the Clean Energy Advisor position.

  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license in the State of California.
  • Ability to day travel.
