Classroom Manager information

What is a classroom manager?

A Classroom Manager is an individual responsible for overseeing the daily operations and organization of a classroom. This role typically involves supporting teachers with administrative tasks, maintaining order, coordinating classroom activities, and ensuring a positive learning environment. Classroom Managers may also assist with student supervision, communication with parents, and implementing school policies. Their work helps teachers focus more on instruction and student engagement.

How does a classroom manager typically collaborate with teachers and support staff to enhance student learning?

A Classroom Manager works closely with teachers and support staff by coordinating classroom logistics, managing resources, and facilitating effective communication among team members. They often assist in implementing lesson plans, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and addressing any behavioral issues that arise. This collaborative approach ensures that teachers can focus more on instruction, while support staff can efficiently provide additional help to students. Regular meetings and feedback sessions are common, allowing for continuous improvement in classroom management and student support.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a classroom manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Classroom Manager, you need strong organizational abilities, classroom management techniques, and typically a background in education or childcare. Familiarity with digital classroom tools, learning management systems, and sometimes certifications in child development or education are commonly required. Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for fostering a positive learning environment. These skills are vital for maintaining order, supporting student engagement, and ensuring smooth classroom operations.

Compensation: $17–$20 per hour (based on credentials and experience)
Full-time leadership role with strong classroom autonomy
The Opportunity: The Early Preschool, Preschool & Pre-K classroom is the culminating experience of the Primrose journey — the moment where everything comes together. It is the bridge between early childhood and the formal world of elementary school. Families choose Primrose intentionally. They are looking for more than care — they are looking for readiness, confidence, and joy. That is what we deliver.
This is a structured, joyful, academically rich environment led by an educator who understands the weight and privilege of preparing a child for what comes next — and who delights in the magic of this age.
Our classroom are full of questions, big personalities, laughter, imaginative play, and breakthrough moments that make you pause and smile. We are looking for a teacher who loves that energy — who sees both the magic and the momentum of this age.
The Role: As a Co-Teacher or Assistant Teacher, you will co-lead a classroom of two, three or four-year‑olds through a developmentally grounded curriculum that prepares them — academically, socially, and emotional. Our classrooms will reflect your joy, your planning, your standards, and your passion for readiness. You will:
  • Design and deliver daily lessons aligned with Balanced Learning® Preschool curriculum frameworks
  • Build early literacy foundations through engaging, hands‑on experiences that strengthen phonological awareness, print concepts, vocabulary, and comprehension
  • Develop early math skills: number sense, counting, patterns, shapes, and problem-solving
  • Foster executive function skills: self-regulation, attention, and task completion
  • Prepare students for the future, including school-day structure and behavioral expectations
  • Assist with ongoing developmental assessments and communicate results clearly to families
  • Support strong family partnership practices — including assist with conferences, daily updates, and milestone communication
  • Collaborate and work alongside the teacher within your classroom
  • Partner with families through their child's Potty-Training process and support their journey - Twos classroom ONLY.
Who Thrives Here -- We are looking for a professional who is:
  • A skilled educator with deep knowledge of Preschool development and academic readiness (3-5 years preferred)
  • An intentional planner who values curriculum, creativity, and joyful learning
  • Confident in leading family conferences and delivering developmental feedback
  • A strong classroom manager who maintains high expectations with warmth
  • Credentialed and committed to ongoing professional growth
  • Understands that laughter and joy are cornerstones of the learning environment
Education: Preferred Degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education required; Virginia teaching licensure or CDA or pursuing higher education.

  • Exclusive Balanced Learning® curriculum with full digital support
  • Paid professional development and certification support
  • Daily complimentary snacks and refreshments to support your energy during a demanding day
  • Long-term team culture — not a revolving door

Benefits:
  • Bonus based on performance
  • Competitive salary
  • Dental insurance
  • Free food & snacks
  • Health insurance
