ROLE AND PURPOSE:
  • Provide instructional support services. Assist teacher in instruction, preparation, and management of classroom activities. Work under direct supervision of a teacher. Assigned 100% to the campus SCE Programs for at-risk students.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate must be obtained before starting the position

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
  • Ability to work well with children
  • Ability to communicate effectively

EXPERIENCE:
  • Some experience working with children

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT
  • Provide direct instruction of at-risk students under direct supervision of a teacher
  • Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher: work with individual students or small groups
  • Assist in classroom management
  • Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
  • Help maintain neat and orderly classroom
  • Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment
  • Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
  • Other duties as assigned to assist at-risk students
