Job description

Job Title: Teacher Assistantย for First grade classroom

Location: Mountain Sunrise Academy

Position Type: 35 hours per week

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated teacher assistant to support our mission of providing whole child education to all of our students.ย 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and students, delivering instruction as needed, supervising outdoor recess, taking direction from the lead teacher.
  • Classroom assistants are required to spend time indoors and outdoors in all weather as Waldorf schools encourage ample daily outdoor time.
  • Regularly able to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students ensuring their academic and social-emotional success.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of classroom activities that align with Waldorf education principles.
  • Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and performance, maintaining accurate records and reporting to appropriate staff.
  • Utilize positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques to support student learning and development.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, empathy, and cooperation among all students.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of high school diploma is required
  • Experience working with children preferably in an educational setting.
  • Understanding and appreciation of Waldorf education principles and methodologies.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the growth and development of students.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to the unique challenges and needs of each student.
