Job description

PURPOSE
Insure proper handling of work-related injury exposures to Marten Transport, Ltd. in compliance with Federal, State,
and company policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Claim file handling to include the following:

1. Obtain First Report of Injury.
2. Create claim file within Marten programs.
3. Establish and maintain contact with employee, medical providers, adjusters, attorneys.
4. Investigate all claims fully to determine compensability, take recorded statements where necessary and communicate
with medical providers on issues of causation.
5. Establish and maintain medical and indemnity reserves.
6. Prepare and file all State required forms.
7. Monitor treatment for reasonableness and medical necessity.
8. Coordinate RTW effort with employee and medical
providers.
9. Control costs via work with medical support services vendors and compliance with RTW parameters.
10. Identify third party potential; initiate, negotiate, and settle subrogation claims.
11. Maintain all OSHA reporting requirements.
12. Prepare all internally requested forms and maintain internal database for WC program.
13. Participate in all training programs as directed by management.
14. Communicate with Claims Manager on strategies to control exposures to Marten Transport, Ltd.
15. Other duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS
Work with entire employee base, insurance carriers, excess insurance carriers, brokers, third party administrators, adjusters, attorneys, medical providers, nurse case
managers, medical support service vendors, State and Federal agencies.

REQUIRED ABILITIES/SKILLS
Excellent oral and written communication skills, computer proficiency, knowledge of medical and legal terminology, familiarity with workers compensation law and practices.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Speaking/verbal, listening/audio, fine motor skills/typing, and prolonged sitting.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Associate degree and one year experience
