Weโ€™re looking for a Project Manager with 10+ years of experience in civil engineering and a California Professional Engineering (P.E.) license to lead Transportation Infrastructure projects in Southern California. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in client-facing leadership, enjoys mentoring teams, and is passionate about delivering impactful transportation solutions. Youโ€™ll collaborate across BKF teams to manage project delivery, strengthen client relationships, and anchor our transportation presence in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and project management for transportation infrastructure projects, including roadway improvements, traffic studies, and rehabilitation initiatives
  • Coordinate permitting, technical studies, and client communications to ensure smooth project execution
  • Leverage internal talent and build a local network to support scalable project delivery
  • Champion quality, innovation, and continuous improvement in transportation engineering
  • Mentor junior staff and demonstrate leadership potential to grow a local team

Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field
  • California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required
  • 10 years of experience in transportation infrastructure, including design and project management of roadway, transit, or related civil projects
  • Strong background in transportation design, including roadway geometry, traffic control, grading, and utility coordination
  • Proven ability to lead planning studies, master plans, and infrastructure projects from concept through delivery and completion
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with new and existing clients, internal teams, and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success in building client relationships and strategic positioning for project opportunities
  • Entrepreneurial drive to pursue new transportation projects and establish a local presence, with the potential to grow and lead a small team
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to pursue and win transportation infrastructure projects in the North Bay

Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.

Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.
