Our Mission: The mission of the La Center School District is to create a supportive learning environment that empowers students to reach their fullest potential. We will do this in partnership with families, the community, staff and students to develop confident and self-reliant lifelong learners who can thrive in a rapidly changing, more technologically advanced and diverse society.
Position Description: Our coaches support the district mission by:
  • Assisting the head coach in developing students on the Cross Country team
  • Assisting the head coach of the High School team in developing a 7-12 cohesive Cross Country program
  • Other duties as assigned

Terms of Employment: August 24 - October 15, 2026
  • Must be available weekdays after school for practices and meets
  • Current CPR/First-Aid Card on file prior to the first day of coaching athletes
  • Successful candidate must submit a Washington State Sexual Misconduct Disclosure and undergo state and federal background checks including fingerprinting at the applicant's expense

Salary Range: $2,150 - $2,844/season depending on experience
Benefits: Eligible employees may accrue sick leave at the rate of one (1) hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked under Washington State law. Upon working 630 hours in a school year, employees may be eligible for insurance benefits through School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) which includes, medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, life and AD&D insurance.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Experience competing in Cross Country and/or Track at the Middle School level or beyond

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience coaching a sport at some level
  • Experience coaching the Middle School level
  • Experience competing and coaching Cross Country and/or Track at the college level or beyond
