Position Overview

As a Project Engineer at LJA Transportation, you will be responsible for design calculations, preparing plans, and developing schematic designs for local government, commercial, and industrial projects while collaborating with team members, clients, and consultants. You’ll apply advanced engineering principles and exercise independent judgment – all while enjoying a supportive, team‑oriented culture.

A Typical Day Might Include
  • Performing design calculations, preparing plans, and directing schematic designs for local government, commercial, and industrial projects.
  • Using advanced techniques, theory, precepts, and practices.
  • Interacting with task leaders, team members, clients, and other consultants.
  • Exercising judgment in independently evaluating, selecting, and adapting standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Mentoring direct reports and conveying knowledge to others.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support project needs.
Required Education / License / Certifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree, Civil Engineering
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (Georgia preferred as starting point)
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Technical knowledge of CAD operations and engineering specialty discipline
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers
  • Must be adaptable to changes in work assignments as project needs evolve.
