Dewberry has an immediate full-time opening for a Site/Civil Project Engineer in its Danville, VA office for the Land Development group. This position requires three (3) plus years of experience in civil design/land development activities including design of grading, storm water management, erosion and sediment control, public and private roadways, storm drainage, domestic water mains and services, and sanitary sewers. The selected candidate will become part of a growing team that provides complete, comprehensive land development services to a variety of public and private clients. This position requires subject matter knowledge and breadth/depth experience to move projects from concept to completion including design work, plan and permit processing, and construction phase services. Candidates who enjoy feasibility, site due diligence and other preliminary engineering efforts will enjoy the project variety in our Danville office.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for preparation and coordination of Land Development design aspects.
  • Works closely with Project Managers and jurisdictional staff.
  • Mentors junior staff.
  • Specific work may include, yet is not limited to, client communication, construction document (plan and specifications) and technical reports preparation, and engineering analyses.
  • Project Manager will establish milestones and completion dates for projects and monitor progress for final evaluation of results.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Skills & Required Experience
  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering or proven equal experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience directly related to the design and execution of Land Development Projects required. Five or more years preferred.
  • PE in the State of Virginia preferred.
  • Experience with Virginia land development projects preferred.
  • Preparation of reports, exhibits, and Site/Civil Construction Plans.
  • Strong technical capabilities in various Software Applications, including, but not limited to, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, and Abode Acrobat.
  • Strong understanding of civil site design for development and redevelopment projects.
  • Capable of delivering projects that meet technical requirements on time and within budget and are diverse with varying degrees of complexity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to become proficient in Dewberry engineering practices, standards, and Dewberry-specific software programs.
