Position Summary 

As a Field Engineer, you'll play a key role in managing and supporting operations in the field. You'll collaborate closely with project engineers, superintendents, and foremen to ensure every project is built safely, accurately, and efficiently from concept to completion. This is an exciting opportunity for those who want to grow into leadership roles while learning the ins and outs of heavy civil construction. 


What You'll Do 

  • Work alongside superintendents and foremen to plan, track, and execute field activities according to design and specifications. 
  • Perform and verify quantity takeoffs, cost reporting, and materials tracking. 
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure project schedules and budgets stay on track. 
  • Participate in work planning, project documentation, and progress meetings. 
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure construction meets or exceeds standards. 
  • Identify and help resolve field challenges quickly through teamwork and creative problem-solving. 
  • Support change order management, cost reporting, and close-out documentation. 
  • Promote and uphold Zachry's culture of safety - ensuring every person goes home safe every day.

What We're Looking For 

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline (preferred). 
  • 1+ years of experience in heavy highway, road, or bridge construction (internship or field experience a plus). 
  • Experience with projects $10M+ preferred. 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with construction software tools such as Bluebeam and AutoCAD. 
  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset and commitment to teamwork.
