Position Description
PALA Interstate, LLC
General Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Civil Planner to join our general construction team. The Civil Planner will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules for civil and infrastructure works. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with contractual and operational requirements.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop baseline project schedules using industry-standard planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Prepare Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) in coordination with project managers and site engineers.
  • Identify project milestones, critical paths, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor project progress and update schedules regularly.
  • Analyze delays, evaluate impacts, and propose recovery plans.
  • Prepare look-ahead schedules (weekly and monthly).
  • Coordinate with procurement, engineering, and site teams to align planning with actual progress.
  • Track material deliveries, subcontractor activities, and site productivity.
  • Prepare progress reports, dashboards, and schedule performance metrics (SPI, CPI where applicable).
  • Assist in tender planning, including preparation of preliminary schedules and manpower histograms.
  • Ensure compliance with contract timelines and reporting requirements.
  • Support claims preparation related to time extensions and delay analysis when required.

The intent of the above is to provide a sample of the type of daily functions the planner will be exposed to and trained on. It is not intended to be a complete list of responsibilities. The planner/ engineer will assist with these responsibilities under the watch and guidance of an experienced Project professional.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 3-8 years of experience in civil construction planning (roads, bridges, utilities, buildings, infrastructure).
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of resource loading, cost control, and earned value management is an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
