Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is currently looking for a talented and self-motivated Senior Civil Engineer to join its collaborative team in Houston Briarpark office. The ideal candidate will work on industrial and power infrastructure projects and be responsible for site civil engineering and design.
Responsibilities
  • Lead, plan, design and manage permits for civil engineering, land development and infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct site visits to ensure that the construction work aligns with design specifications and blueprints.
  • Prepare and modify engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates and design plans for projects using engineering and design software (AutoCAD, and Civil 3D).
  • Establish and verify survey control, lay out secondary control points for building elements like columns and walls.
  • Generate complete sets of civil design drawings from Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) through Issued for Construction (IFC) stages.
  • Develop detailed Civil 3D models incorporating subassemblies, corridors, and feature lines to support accurate design visualization and analysis.
  • Design, implement, and manage AutoCAD Civil 3D templates, code sets, and standards tailored to client specifications and project needs.
  • Lead the end-to-end development of comprehensive civil design packages, ensuring alignment with project scope, technical standards, and client requirements.
  • Perform rigorous quality checks on 3D models and drawings to verify accuracy, completeness, and full compliance with applicable civil design criteria, codes, and specifications.
  • Generate precise grading, drainage, paving, and roadway designs using Autodesk AutoCAD and Civil 3D, adhering to established civil engineering standards and project-specific requirements.
  • Effectively use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, test and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects.
  • Recommend new approaches and ideas that continuously improve efficiency and services performed.
  • Collaborate with team members on project tasks and assignments.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 12 years of Site Civil Engineering experience.
  • Engineer in Training Certification and working towards Professional Engineer licensure.
  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D proficiency.
  • Experience with grading and Earthwork site design.
  • Experience with stormwater drainage analysis utilizing Autodesk Storm & Sanitary Analysis (SSA).
  • Environmental Permitting knowledge (NPDES, wetlands, 404, Phase 1 ESA).
  • Site layout experience (parking, access, roadways, ADA compatibility).
  • Experience with Roadway / Paving design & specifications.
  • Surveying knowledge (topographical, boundary, plats, coordinate systems).
  • Geotechnical knowledge (sitework prep, roadway / heavy haul paving design) Security gate / fencing design.
  • High level of proficiency Autodesk Civil 3D required. (MicroStation, OpenRoads, and GeoPak, are desirable).
  • Excellent Communication and Presentation Skills (Verbal and Written).
  • Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States for any employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
