Civil EngineerPosition Overview

Futron is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to provide civil engineering design and production support from project inception through construction. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while ensuring the quality, accuracy, and compliance of all project deliverables.

This position is based on-site at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Candidates must possess a clean background and be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance. A federal background investigation will be conducted as part of the hiring process. Secret clearance sponsorship will be provided upon hire.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform civil engineering design and production support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Apply expertise in both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build project delivery methods.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Review work of other civil engineers for code compliance, quality, and constructability.
  • Estimate design effort and assist in negotiations with Architectural-Engineering firms and General Contractors.
  • Review and respond to contractor submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations and NAVFAC requirements.

QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience
  • Experience in schematic design and design development, including evaluation of new and existing facilities.
  • Proven ability to prepare complete construction documents (drawings and specifications) for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Demonstrated experience as a facility designer for new and existing buildings similar to those within the NAVFAC Washington Area of Responsibility.
Technical Competence
  • Skilled in developing accurate, coordinated designs, drawings, and specifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of Federal, State, and Local codes and regulations.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design software, including StormCad, TR55-HydroCad, HEC-HMS, PCASE, and WaterGEMS.
  • Expertise in site layout, roadways, grading, erosion and sediment control, utilities, and stormwater management/low-impact development design.
Additional Skills
  • Strong ability to prepare and deliver high-level briefings to senior leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Security Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must possess a clean background and be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Secret clearance sponsorship will be provided upon hire.

Compensation & Position Details
  • Annual Salary: Starting at $90,000 (commensurate with experience)
  • Relocation Assistance: Available for qualified candidates
  • Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday
  • Pay Schedule: Biweekly (26 pay periods annually)

Paid Leave & Holidays
  • Personal Leave: 80 hours annually (up to 40 hours may carry over; unused leave is not paid upon separation)
  • Sick Leave: 7 days annually
  • Holidays: 12 paid U.S. Federal Holidays
