The City of Carmel is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer to join our Engineering Department. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful transportation, stormwater, and capital improvement projects that enhance public safety and quality of life in one of the nation's most recognized communities.

Whether you're an Engineer in Training ready to grow your career or a licensed Professional Engineer with project management experience, we encourage you to apply. Position level (Engineer II or III) will be based on qualifications and experience.

What You'll Do
  • Manage and support roadway, drainage, transportation, and capital improvement projects from planning through construction.

  • Analyze traffic operations, roadway safety, signage, parking, stormwater, and right-of-way issues, and develop engineering solutions.

  • Review engineering plans, development proposals, and stormwater calculations for compliance with City standards.

  • Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and presentations for City boards and public meetings.

  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, utility companies, developers, and City departments throughout project delivery.

  • Conduct field inspections, respond to resident concerns, and provide technical guidance on engineering matters.

  • Maintain current knowledge of engineering practices, regulations, and municipal standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, municipal infrastructure, and project management.
