Role Description The Civil Cost Estimator is a part-time, on-site role based in Miami, FL. This position is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for civil infrastructure and construction projects, including quantity takeoffs, labor, material, and equipment cost analyses. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing engineering drawings and specifications, analyzing bid documents, collaborating with project managers and engineers to clarify scope, and updating cost databases and assumptions. The role also involves evaluating contractor proposals, supporting value engineering efforts, preparing cost reports and variance analyses, and contributing to budget development and lifecycle cost forecasting. The Civil Cost Estimator will work closely with internal teams and clients to ensure estimates are accurate, timely, and aligned with project goals and industry standards.


Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in civil construction cost estimating, with at least 10+years focused in the water wastewater sector, including quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and preparation of detailed estimates.
  • Strong technical understanding of civil engineering drawings, specifications, and construction methods for infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency with estimating and project management software, as well as MS Excel and other standard office tools.
  • Ability to analyze bids, evaluate contractor proposals, and support value engineering and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Solid analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in calculations and documentation.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients on-site.
  • Relevant experience in transportation, water, aviation, or other civil infrastructure sectors is highly beneficial.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with public sector procurement processes and large, complex capital programs is a plus.
  • Commitment to ethical, inclusive, and safety-focused practices in all aspects of project work.
