About the Urban League of Rochester: 

The Urban League of Rochester is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering African Americans and other underserved individuals to achieve economic self-reliance, parity, power, and civil rights. We operate several residential and community-based properties across the city that require consistent care and responsive maintenance. 


Position Summary: 

We're looking for a dependable, skilled full-time Maintenance Technician to support general upkeep and repairs across multiple Urban League sites. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, has experience in general maintenance, and is committed to creating safe, functional spaces for residents and staff. 

Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm (after-hours emergency calls may be required)

Location: Multiple sites located in the City of Rochester, Towns of Henrietta and Brighton and Orleans County

Hourly rate:  $22 - $24 per hour (dependent on experience)


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform routine maintenance: plumbing, painting, HVAC, minor electrical and carpentry across multiple properties. 
  • Complete work orders and maintenance requests promptly and professionally. 
  • Conduct property inspections and report any safety or structural issues. 
  • Maintain grounds and outdoor areas (trash removal, snow shoveling, landscaping). 
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors, when necessary, under the Site Manager's supervision. 
  • Track materials used and keep maintenance logs. 
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls, including after-hours when needed. 

Requirements

  • 2+ years of property maintenance or building operations experience. 
  • Strong knowledge of general repair and maintenance practices, with a conscientious and detail-oriented approach to all work performed.
  • Proven ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess a valid NYS driver's license and access to reliable transportation, with the ability to travel to multiple locations throughout the day. 
  • Strong communication, time management, and customer service skills. 
  •  High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Computer literacy is a plus.
